"We've not been to the restaurant for a couple of years, it was just as we remembered it absolutey excellent, the food is amazing so flavoursome and the steaks cooked perfectly, we had the €19.80 menu a huge amount of food (couldn't eat it all) and very well presented the staff really lovely and all the little extras make a difference, we had the house rose wine which was very good. The ambience and quirkiness of the restaurant is something to see so many different ornaments and very old fashioned French decor. There seemed to be more French in there than any other nationality which speaks volumes for the quality of the restaurant. We will definitely be returning and can 100% recommend it."

A flying visit to this restaurant. Really friendly staff, the food was outstanding and very responsible. The steak we ordered was cooked to perfection!

We ate there about 10 years ago and came upon it again by chance. We were not disappointed. The food is typically French brasserie style and good value. The service was pleasant and efficient. We would return.

We have just returned from a lovely meal here. The starters were delicious- particularly the 'greedy jar' which was like a prawn cocktail. The service was very quick and friendly. A lovely atmosphere. We hope to return again.

The first two courses of this meal were outstanding, it was such a shame that the main course let it down. Neither of us could eat the brag, as it was far too tough. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he just shrugged his shoulders. Also one waiter for about 30 people is not a good idea. View menu

Visited here on Our tour in Calais, wow you were blown away with how rich the decor was, food was delightful and staff were very courteous, friendly and took time to get to know there guests, menu was varied and drinks list was very good, good price for what we ordered with portions well presented.

We went for 19euros menu which was excellent value. Good portion sizes and lovely fresh cod for main. Service was not good though. Our wine was forgotten and there was a long wait. It's fine if you have plenty of time and want to pace yourself between the various courses. Nice tasty food and good value.

Garçon refused to speak English even though I persevered with French. My steak was over cooked and the foir gras was disgusting. Apart from that the soup was good. Did not like attitude. Had to ask for water four times. This arrived after one hour. Needless to say I chose not to pay for my meal.It is a pity because this used to be a good restaurant and that is why I went back. Never again. View menu

We ordered the crispy langoustine and Pate de Foie Gras for Starters, the Pate was fine, but the cripsy langoustine was two pieces of langoustine and some grated carrot encased in filo pastry which had been fried, except it had probably been reheated more than once, the langoustine pieces were hard as bricks and the whole dish inedible. I complained and the waiter went away without apology or deduction from the bill. Our Mains Porc mignon with chanterelle mushrooms in a cream sauce and Bouef Flamois were both very salty. We paid our bill and left.

The 12 euro lunch was actually quite a treat! Appetiser was a verrine of crab mayonnaise, and a nice white fish rillette, with slices of very fresh soft bread. I chose (from 3 items) the cod loin with ratatouille, a lovely piece of perfectly cooked skinless fish on a bed of good flavoured veg, plus a cheese topped tomato slice, tender braised chicory, tasty mashed potato. A fresh-tasting & generous plateful - I happily scoffed the lot. The set pud is cafe gourmand with a very sweet & rich Calais mini cake, verrine of set custard and a piece of bread pudding - this last the only poor item. A satisfying meal. Charming welcome, service; nice outlook on the Place.
