"Dinner for 3 hungry people in this little gem a bit off the beaten track, but more than worth the diversion. Ms Brard runs a truly amazing kitchen, we had a lovely view in through the pass and there was calm, good humour, and great, respectful communication going on in a happy kitchen all of which was reflected on our plates. We had two dinners from the €25 menu and one from the more elaborate €35 menu. A little amuse bouche of diced melon with a hint of mint got us nicely started. (Incidentally, I don't know if Ms Brard bakes her own baguette, but it was just amazing, far and above the best French bread I have ever eaten Starters: Salad of duck geziers and lardons just delicious, with a clean and simple dressing. (Hands down the best salad I ate in two weeks of dining in France this year. Crab souffle unusual, amazing and utterly delicious. Warm sauteed foie gras with figs and apple mind blowing! Mains: Confit duck just perfect Entrecote tender and cooked to perfection, with phenomenal confit shallots on top Tournedos sublimely seasoned and cooked All were served with fabulous sauteed potato slices and seasonal veg. Desserts: Vanilla creme brulee Raspberry creme brulee Chocolate fondant All excellent, especially the vanilla brulee and the sure sign of a kitchen where someone really know what they are doing stunning, delicious chantilly cream."

Definitely worth the long drive if you’re around Bordeaux Cognac. Beautifully decorated and restored windmill and best of all an excellent dinner awaited us after having travelled from La Rochelle. The hostess is a very good cook as well as the suggested menus. View menu

We came across this restaurant by chance on a drive around the area. It was a hot day and we sat out the back on the terrace, which was the most perfect setting. We all ate off the set menu which was incredibly good value and every dish was lovely. If you're close to this restaurant then please go...

A trip to North Gironde, near Blaye (20mn) should take you to that address. Located 5mn away from highway, in the village of Marcillac (33), this restaurant served gem food at affordable price Euro 25 for three course menu. Goat cheese salad, fresh oysters, duck magret, and 6/7 choices of fresh desserts, in a casual terrace. We even spotted a small baby deer, walking around. Really nice also to taste the local terroir of Vignerons Tutiac Rose wine. Tutiac is a large cooperative of winemaker, located in Marcillac village. We got to know they export wines to USA and China, all from that little village.
