"Au p'tit Bouchon is a little away from the main street of seafront restaurants in St Raphael/ Frejus Plage, being a little further east towards Boulouris, but still within an easy stroll from town centre hotels. It was certainly very quiet when we visited and there were few passers by.The main part of the restaurant appeared cosy and welcoming but as it was a warm evening we sat outside so couldn't really judge the interior, We were welcomed and served personally by the friendly patronne. I chose the fish platter which was excellent and, unusually, contained very little that was battered or deep fried. I couldn't identify everything but it seemed to be built around a generous fillet of Red Mullet and the whole thing was tasty and well presented. My partner chose a chicken dish with an unusual sauce, served with salad and fries. We washed this down with an excellent local rose and ended with a good crème brulee. We were very happy with our experience here and I think that it was quiet because we dined early - I'm sure such a good find is probably bustling a little later!"

This is what I would call a typical French restaurant and ideal for lunch. Family run and the food and service was first class - limited English but that was easily overcome. View menu

The best meal we had in the whole of Provence during our 2 week holiday and we ate in Arles, Avignon, Aix en provence, The Verdun, Frejus etc Excellent french waitress, very friendly and pleasant also the boss was lovely too. Had 18 euro 3 course meal and house wine, all excellent. Lovely view of the sunset across the harbour.

On a Monday evening in January there are not many restaurants open in Saint-Raphael and we spend an hour eyeing up menus outside the open restaurants and went for this one. We were initially the only ones in there then it became remarkably busy which is a good sign. Both of us had the more expensive 29 euro menu and the flambeed king prawns followed by fillet steak with lovely vegetables were to do for!! House red very palatable so would go again.

We'd just got off the flight and headed for the coast to fine somewhere for a simple traditional seaside lunch and this place did the trick. We sat outside although it wasn't the warmest day and enjoyed a simple lunch of minute steak and chips and fish with provencal vegetables. Washed down with some local rose. Really good lunch, views of the sea (although it is on the road), nice checked table clothes and clapperboard interior. Nothing fancy, just good homestyle cooking and a very smiley welcome, great start to our weekend in Provence. View menu

This restaurant is on the seafront, on the Port Saint Lucia side of St Raph as my wife and I shared a lovely meal at the beginning of our holiday. My terrine de veau was delicate and creamy, whilst she was pleased with her melon, jambon cru.She voted her turbot one of the best pieces of fish she'd ever eaten, and my rognons de veau were hearty and full of flavour. We both had creme brulee for dressert. I know many people look down on this dish, but we are fans, and when it's as good as it was here, it was wonderful. The service was good without being rushed, and for €84 the meal got us perfectly into the holiday mood.

We ate dinner at Au P'tit Bouchon mainly because it was within a couple of hundred yards of our hotel; how fortunate! The set up is simple and clean with just a few quirky, jazz-based wall posters to pique the imagination. Added to this was the really warm welcome from the chap waiting tables; indeed, he did not stop smiling all night no matter how busy he appeared to be.We selected from the set menu (19.50 Euros) with my wife choosing the goat's cheese starter and then a rabbit dish to follow; I chose the terrine for my starter and a cod dish for my main course. Our puddings were a crème brulee and a pannacotta. All courses were generous, well cooked and / or presented and, most importantly, b...
