"at the weekend for lunch, got a vegetable tart and fiancé a burger. both enjoyed eating! the chips are an interesting cut almost in a v-shape that gives extra surface for kratzer! very delicious. from their selection of sweet tasty we ordered a lemon meringue tea (very good) and a piece of treacle tea as I have never tried. no idea what I expected, but it was too sweet for me! if they have a big sweet tooth, though they like it and maybe with a bitter coffee to break the sweet one. it was also a bigger place than we had expected and seemed kind of dog from the number of dogs outside, which is always a plus! would like to hear some background music being played, but have noticed that is not usual in Britain"

"I didn't have a good experience at this fish and chips shop, but decided to give it one more try. I ordered a fish supper, 2 king rib suppers, and a chicken fillet supper. It was absolutely terrible - everything was burnt to a crisp and had a strong smell of burned oil. It was obvious that the boss wasn't present at the time."

"Hotel is under new ownership. They are updating and it looks so much better than previous photos you may find on the internet. There’s still a ways to go. Beds are extremely “firm”. Individual rooms are decorated with lots of billowing dusty fabrics, and still need a lot of updating. You may be scalded while showering if another guest flushes the toilet or turns on the cold water anywhere in the building. The showers in general need to be addressed. Shower curtains were flimsy plastic that blow around while you shower and stick to you… which is not pleasant especially because they’re mildewed in places. The staff was extremely friendly. Sitting in the lounge and enjoying a drink from the bar was a highlight. The main area of the hotel is very nicely re-done, and staff treat you well. Would visit again as I met the owner and can tell he’s working to improve it."

"As someone who struggles with severe anxiety and is autistic, I found the situation very distressing. When we tried to leave, there was a man standing in front of the door, which made me extremely uncomfortable and triggered a panic attack and meltdown. He questioned why we hadn’t asked to use the restroom and insisted that the facilities were for customers only, stating we would need to purchase something first. I apologized and explained that I didn’t realize that was the case. There was no reason for him to block the door and behave in such a threatening manner. I later learned there was a sign on the door, but I didn’t see it, and my partner, who is dyslexic, struggled with it as well. This situation could have been avoided if we had received better customer service upon entering and had been acknowledged."
