Amazing food! And a fantastic wine list. I would highly recommend for an evening meal. Menu caters for a wide variety of needs.

We made a reservation for a cream tea and were extremely pleased with our experience. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the scones were freshly baked, and the clotted cream and jam were just right. The conservatory had a lovely view of the rose garden and the decor was tasteful with beautiful China. View menu

We stayed here for one night in May to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Our room was extremely comfortable and well equipped. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was absolutely delicious. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet selection was extensive and the homemade granola was lovely. Thanks for a great stay.

My partner and I booked a table for Sunday lunch. The gentleman who appeared to be in charge was very professional and welcoming. Unfortunately we decided to leave before dining as there were several dogs in the restaurant. A couple of them started barking loudly. Personally we do not like mixing food with animals. It was a real shame as the menu looked superb. We would happily visit again but not with dogs.

Called in to see the newly transformed hotel. Found our way to the bar but had to go back to reception to find the barman. Couldn’t produce a glass of either Malbec or Merlot but came up with a mix. We did choose two of Sancerre, two of the red wine glasses of 175 wine and the bill was £53.00! Certainly won’t be going there again as we could have had two ok bottles in other local places. This was my first visit to Barnsdale, but it definitely won't be my last. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, and I was very impressed to find backgammon sets available in the bar area. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, but the standout aspect of my experience was the exceptional service provided by the staff. A special shout out to the maître d', Ben, and our fantastic waitress, Codie. Their humor and professionalism made us feel incredibly welcome. Thank you, guys. Five-star experience!

I found out after going to the bar to get some drinks that a 10% service charge is included after I had paid. It clearly states on the bottom of the bill that it includes an optional 10% of service charge can be removed from the bill on request. I emailed Barnsley about this and their response was a service charge has not been added but in says on the bill including not added. Now they are ignoring my emails. We were a group of 51 people out for a Xmas meal so I will be advising our club secretary to book somewhere else next year.

The restaurant had a beautiful setting, but the food was very disappointing. We ordered the Ham Hock Terrine, which was described as a main course but felt more like a light bite. The dish included Ham Hock terrine, potato salad, and an egg, but when it arrived, it was served on a small tea plate with only one new potato with mayonnaise and half a soft boiled egg. The quality of the food was okay, but it was not worth the price. We had to ask for bread and butter, which they provided for free, but we do not plan on returning to this restaurant any time soon. My husband even felt like he had been ripped off after dining here. View menu
