"This small but excellent bistro is out of the way but well worth the trip. From the 5th,6th and 7th arrondissement take bus 86 or 87 to Bastille then take 76 to the corner of Charonne and Voltaire walk one block Leon Frot take a left it's on the corner to your right. Maybe 20 minutes by bus. We went for lunch had the choux farci (stuffed cabbage) so good and my friend had the omelet so big filled with cheese and ham served with a small salad. This place is authentic wine list very affordable. Anyway I really really recommend this bistro."

This is a great bistro. Traditional Aveyron food (few dishes but exquisite) becomes the side of the studied selection of regional wines. Friendly ambience, excellent service. I went twice in a week. View menu

While visiting Paris, you should always remember that Paris is a very little taste of France! The only way to have an idea about the other regions is to try the original bistros and wine bars who bring special regional products. Bistrot Melac is one of them.

Have been here for dinner and absolutely amazed about the place (old bistrot french style), the excellent food quality (typical trench dishes -fois gras, cheese, escargot, auvergne melted cheese with egg, .... veal meat and duck, etc) and nice personel. Will come back again! View menu

The founder and former owner Jacques Melac has sold his famous Bistro à vins. It seems the new owners are doing a good job on the food side, based on our lunch experience. If you are in Paris during the celebration of the Beaujolais Nouveau or the Fêtes de Vendange, the street corner or Rue Léon Frot and Rue Emile Lepeu can be a very nice place to spend your evening, with the locals of the surrounding blocks.

Melac offers very interesting and delicious country-style bistro food, alongside its great wine selection, in a simple setting. We had green onion fritters with ham, and some escargot, to start, followed by a pork cabbage casserole with potatoes and carrots and sausage with potato aligot and a delicious wine reduction gravy, all with a bottle of Morgon. Everything tasted great, and the selections are different from what we often see in bistros.

"the food was super super good!! i had a grilled beef with green lime as starter and it was the best food i have ever eaten in France i have to say!! of course a visit to a Thai restaurant would not be complete without trying their green curry and it was really good as well. i would be going to this restaurant again and trying other menus..a bit on the pricy side but with the fork/ la fourchette discount, it helps to reduce the price a little bit. really that was really a perfect meal i had a fresh coconut drink from the shell itself, a superbly amazing starter, and a very good chicken green curry for the main. If u go in couple, it would be nice to share, as the portion is quite big, and u can order the beef grilled starter, and 2 main dishes to share, and to be eaten with steamed rice, which is the normal way Asians eat at home! the waitresses don't speak english, that was fine for me as i speak a bit of French. even when they don't speak english, i could tell that they are very friendly, and tried to interact with us as much as possible. I am living in France currently and there is some truth when the general says french waitress are some of the worst u can get with their slow service, but this one was definitely different. . Food came quickly and they seem very nice people. I went with a friend as we had a crave for Thai food and after some research from Trip Advisor, we had some options and Im really glad that we chose this (as it has a discount from La Fourchette which was a very good marketingPLUS point for them! it worked for them at least in our case ;) )all in all, U GUYS HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE."
