"We couldn’t fault the food … we both had a panini which came with a lovely fresh salad creamy coleslaw a perfect small portion of chips. We ate in the garden were they had plenty of shady spots. We also browsed the entire store and bought a Weber bbq, bbq pan and 2 pairs of shoes from Pavers. The staff in the store seemed to be mostly young (in their 20s). The restaurant staff were not particularly friendly (except the young lady who sorted out our umbrella and an older gentleman who brought out our food). They seemed to be too busy chatting and made me feel like I was interrupting the 4 of them behind the counter. We asked one of the checkout staff if they had any AA batteries … his response ‘no, I don’t think so’. We bought our batteries elsewhere. We asked if they had a particular size in the wellingtons … the response was ‘if it’s not there then no’. Well we can buy those elsewhere. The staff in general did not seem a happy bunch. The ladies in Pavers were very helpful friendly and nothing was too much trouble (please let them know). I bought sandals and my husband bought Sketcher trainers. And there was a young man behind the counter in the food shop who asked if I needed any help with a beaming smile. I wouldn’t come back which is a shame because the food was lovely."

A late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Baguettes with prawn and crayfish, accompanied by chips and salad, excellent value and absolutely delicious (albeit a bit messy to eat)

Always used to visit Blackbrooks for breakfast until we discovered Wylands. We decided to try Blackbrooks as not been in a long time to see how it compares and I have to say we were really disappointed. Ordered the light breakfast and the sausage and bacon were undercooked. Incredibly expensive as well. Such a shame as the garden centre is lovely. Will be sticking to Wylands. View menu

Good choices, including options for gluten free. Sometimes a long queue but the staff are efficient so it moves fairly quickly. Like that there is free water usually with a flavour in it today it was oranges. Sandwiches come with bit of salad and chips good amount of filling. Cakes are delicious large slices. Eating area is airy. Free parking. It’s not the cheapest cafe but the food is good,

Member of staff on the till made numerous mistakes such as putting through the wrong order and not giving us a sandwich for our daughter. When we complained the supervisor made out it was all our fault they had made the mistakes. To be fair they were quick to rectify these but the way we were spoken to on the back of mistakes made by the staff was unreasonable. Food was OK once we finally got it.

Lovely comfortable restaurant serving good freshly cooked food and some truly scrumptious cakes. We had the fish and chips. Wow, its beautifully cooked with crispy batter and moist fish. The chips were slightly disappointing being everyday oven chips but overall with the generous mushy peas and lovely tartare sauce it was an enjoyable meal. Friendly staff and good service. Compared with the local offerings of fish and chips in Hastings the cost was very competitive. The restaurant has nice clean toilets, nice seating and air conditioning in the main areas. The selection of well kept plants in the garden centre is good. View menu

Really impressed with staff, friendliness and seemed to enjoy their job! Particularly Peter at the till and Sophie, a delight to be looked after by them. The food arrived quickly and we really enjoyed the rapport with Sophie a really happy go lucky lady. The food is good quality and the choice of cakes delight the eye. My friend was oggling the date slice as she hasn 't seen one in 'years '. I already had sight of the banoffee pie in short crust pastry ! .You 're not going to get the ease of parking, good food etc for cheap, but it was a pleasure. Plenty of room and lots to feast the eyes on in the rest of the store for unusual gifts. Nice couple of hours spent here, we came out despite the...

My friend had roast turkey and all trimmings and i went for the daily special of roast lamb. When I ordered the lady said we don't do roast lamb then I pointed to the board another colleague helped her put it in the till I guess as it wasn't a usual option. The meal came and I asked for some mint sauce to which they said il ask in the kitchen .. no one came back so my friend asked someone else to which the answer was no we don't have any. I thought that's odd considering you sell every sauce and jar under the sun so I left my meal to get cold and ventured off into the shop to buy my own mint sauce at a heft 3 and half quid on top of my 16 pound lamb. It was a long way back to the till the la...
