"Perfectly located for us in the Old town, whenever we are in town we visit the Madrid. From good strong black coffees and hot chocolate in the morning to a celebratory fizz at night. They also do a mean G T in between. On...this trip we just stopped for drinks as there were so many culinary treats within the Christmas markets. We took a seat by the bar and enjoyed a fine bottle of Cava. The staff were very attentive and working there socks off, quite amusing watching a minor power struggle. We were in a position to watch the food going out and it all looked and smelt good. We have eaten here before and never been disappointed. The place always has a good atmosphere but on this cold evening it was very cosy and we were made to feel very welcome. On another occasion Café Madrid was our first port of call in the morning and they did us a very fine coffee and hot chocolate, once again excellent friendly service"

Awful service and we were charged for extra drinks. Plenty of better options in the area

I had the salmon and penne and it was amazing. Because this is Prowein week there are many more wines by the glass than normal, that's awesome

Two years on I returned with a business colleague and friend from New Zealand. We had booked in advance to eat indoors. While there were many seated outside it was lovely to eat inside in the warmth. We decided to order about plates of Tapas...to share. Absolutely spot on. All delicious with a lovely bottle of Marques de Riscal. There is a nice atmosphere indoors and out of the cold. The service was attentive and pleasant. All great value for about including tip. Can't wait to return next year

Back in Duss. for the Christmas markets, popped into Café Madrid for lunch. Service quick and efficient as usual. I had a Serrano burger which was full of flavour and I enjoyed it very much. My wife was not so impressed with the veggie burger...which lacked in flavour. The black bread looks interesting but does not have an outstanding flavour, more of a gimmick. Had they served a chilli bean burger it would have been better than the low end veggie type. Apart from that Café Madrid is always nice to visit and always has a good atmosphere with good staff

Absolutely the most ignorant staff in Dusseldorf and that's saying something, considering the heightened level of ignorance in the city. We called in for some light lunch, what a mistake! We were a group of seven, including some with different dietary needs two vegans. After...waiting over minutes to have our order taken, explaining our vegans needs one was a vege burger, without a sauce. Another minutes our drinks arrived, then during the following minutes food was served one at a time, some of it cold. But the worse part was the vege burger arrived after minutes as a patti on a black bun, no lettuce, tomato. The patti was actually a chicken burger!!!! CHICKEN to a vegan FFS. Avoid this pla...
