"I came here for lunch I delightfully felt like threw back to my days in Porto and in Algarve. The location is settled just a few meters from Mainz Hauptbahnof and it's perfect if you want to have your meal in a quite place. The...restaurant makes you feel you were in Portugal as the owners let fado play during the day. I ordered a caldo verde and a delicious dish of grilled sardines with Salzkartoffeln and a fresh salad. The quality of the food is top! Don't miss a visit here, above all if you are with your family or in a big group"

Small portuguese restaurant. Fairly cowded but got a table without reservations. Had traditional codd fish dish with vinho verde. Food is good and authentic. Service is friendly. Good value for the money

I visit cafe Portugal rather often for its great food at a reasonable price. It's a small family restaurant, service is great! I would not recommend it for special occasions where you need an intimate atmosphere because tables are joined, but we went there often...with our friends and family and had a great time and great food and we will visit it again

This simple Portuguese restaurant probably has a menu but I never bother with it: from the time that I decide to eat here to the time I know what I'm going to eat and I'm looking forward to the tastiest gambas in Mainz. Order the...first portion with batas a murro and the second portion without. Be sure the wipeup the delicious sauce with the freshly baked bread and enjoy it with vino verde. Life can be so simple View menu

My coworker and I stumbled upon this restaurant which already had good Trip Advisor reviews. We enjoyed it so much. It's a more traditional restaurant, with picnicstyle seating. The service is a tad slow, but friendly, and so worth it. The food, OMG it...was amazing. And less than euros for the two of us, which included glasses of wine each. What a gem! Bonus, they DO have English menus. We shared the dorado with potatoes I've never tasted potatoes so good. Highly recommend!

"we thought it was time that four years ago opened patagonia in the mainzer neustadt to test. the bus and tram connection is excellent, the parking situation is very difficult. there is an outside area at the restaurant, and the dining room is large and clear. because the guests were distributed outside and inside, the reservation about opentable would not have been necessary. so we were allowed to choose a table and were welcomed by the two ladies in the service friendly. we found a rectangle with a view of a large flatscreen, on which a diashow of pictures ran from patagonia, which first triggered television. steaks are offered in all variations, and the selection is quite difficult. we first took three empanadas with different fillings that relatiw quickly came out of the kitchen and taste very good.My wife decided in the main course for a rumpsteak of the even medium rare with grill potatoes and salad. I had previously researched the card in the internet and asked myself what a flap steak was. wikipedia helped and so I knew it was a cut that is very common in patagonia and comes very close to the us sirloin strip. I wanted to try this and ordered it **** in the bloom. I took a foil potato. both supplements were handed with the obligatory sourcream with coriander. the two supplemental salads were fresh, colourful and crisp, with the carrots also liked as a supplement. Even with critical consideration, the performance was in all respects of expectations: the services were extremely friendly and stood also in the meat selection with rat and did the side. the we chose to be perfectly met. confusingly I found the hints in the menu on the recommended per steak. these were all together and especially between medium and well done. that was not comprehensible for me because of the top quality of meat, all in all a very successful evening with a quite reasonable price-performance ratio. we like to come back to patagonia."
