"I have to first say the quality of steak and the price we paid for it was an absolute steal! This was our first visit to the restaurant. We had a decent steak nearby and both these restaurants had been recommended. This year we opted for Carlos V. After reading recent reviews about service, I have to say it is a contrast to our experience. The waiter was polite, warm, friendly and accommodating. We had steak on our mind but noticed a special menu, which was three courses for €12.90. I opted for Canarian Croquettes and my partner Garlic Shrimps. A very generous portion of six spinach croquettes accompanied by a tomato purée sauce with a hint of curry is how I can only describe it. In fairness, it was not the best Canarian croquettes I’ve had, but nevertheless acceptable and enjoyable. The waiter warmly took our steak order and fully understood that we wanted a medium well and well done steak. The steak was brought to us with a very generous amount of fries and plenty of peppercorn sauce covering the steak. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and exact to the order. The steak was also very tender and melted in your mouth. We couldn’t finish all of the accompanying fries or Canarian potatoes with our meals and was very close to surrendering our third course. Nevertheless, the waiter warmly insisted and said we had paid for it, so enjoy. I opted for ice cream, again given a choice of flavours, and my partner had a tea instead of coffee. With milk brought afterwards. Again no trouble for the waiter. We were offered a complimentary brandy or liquor, but with bellies full and satisfied, we declined so we could walk it off. Our first experience of Carlos V was a very positive one. From the front of house waiter service, to the back of house where the chef cooked the steaks to perfection and a very delicious sauce. Couple the service with a very tasty product, we have to say €30 for this experience was value for money and would have happily paid double for this. If Carlos V continue offering the experience we had, then I’m sure the all round reviews will be positive."

we enjoyed diners here twice. both male excellent, tasty! there is a waiter of 72 years (birth 7 March) who is still the best waiter next to his 'body built' colleague. you didn't regret eating here!

traditional restaurant feel with very good service, it feels like a proud family business. we have garlic bread and salt ham divided with sweet fresh melone. for the first we had steak strips in garlic with sweet and fryed; and the steak with pfeffer corn sauce is perfectly cut and grilled.

Very disappointed, No Welcome, no smiles, no atmosphere, average food served , but cold Canarian potatoes!! I think we took them by Surprise being English!!!! The aged waiter, had NIL personality to the point of being rude. Never again.

It was a random choice for two hungry guys early one Wednesday evening. I had sole, my friend had pork as a main course with bread and alioli, salted peppers and avocadand prawns between us to start. I have to say that my expectations were not high but in most things surpassed. The alioli was not good, the avocado and prawn reminiscent of prawn cocktail of bygone era, but the main courses were very very palatable and well presented. We decided to both go for dessert Copa Romana perhaps not the best choice... Too much squirty cream drowning some okay vanilla ice cream and diced hard strawberries... Wish we hadn't. That and a couple of glasses of red wine was ours for €53 ISH Yeah I may go aga...

Went to Carlos V with friends. On arrival at 5.30pm we were told there were no inside tables available, but no explanation why. There were a few outside tables so we had no alternative but to sit there. The first waiter was an older man with no personality at all. We ordered and a second waiter came to our table with the same abrupt rude attitude. It appeared they were waiting for the large party who had booked the inside restaurant. Food was okay (warm but not hot) and the price cheap. The restaurant would not look out of place in the 70’s and needs updating however it caters for the Germans who come to the Canaries over the winter months who want a cheap meal. You definitely get what you p...

"During our winter stay on the island of Gran Canaria we stayed four times in the bar restaurant Casa Antonio, located in Santa Lucia de Tirajana. In the village there are three other restaurants but, we always opted for Casa Antonio because it is the safest as unlike the others it has a good level of hygiene. The structure of the restaurant is characteristic as it is obtained from an old Canarian house. The interiors are decorated in a traditional but elegant way, the bathrooms are quite large and above all clean. It has a small terrace that unfortunately is not very enjoyable because it faces directly on the road and cars pass too close at high speed. The menu is rather trivial, you eat the same things you can eat in any other traditional restaurant on the island. The quality of the elements is certainly not excellent, the wine list is a bit poor with not exactly cheap prices. The Service, considering that all four times we have been to Casa Antonio the restaurant was half empty, was entrusted to a boy of about 40 years, kind but not overly nice and uncommunicative, his presence does not contribute to creating a relaxing atmosphere. In my opinion, given that the place is almost always empty and tendentially sad, it would be appropriate for the service to be entrusted to a more cheerful, dynamic, engaging person, probably a female figure would be more appropriate. Practically once the meal has been eaten, all that remains is to remain seated at the table in silence. It 's a real pity because the place is suitable for continuing the evening by drinking some spirits, for example, listening to good music and perhaps socializing with the other customers who are missing in this case. I rate the experience in Casa Antonio with two stars because, despite being the best restaurant in the town of Santa Lucia, it offers an extremely boring atmosphere."
