"We really enjoyed our stay in this rather shabby chic chateau in a charming small village very near the lovely town of Uzès. Our room was adequate although the bathroom needed some attention. There was no shower glass or curtain so every time one had a shower (in the bath) the whole bathroom was a wet zone – a wet room which this wasn’t intended to be! The shady outdoor dining area (weather permitting) is most attractive, although the only views are of the chateau. We were lucky enough to be able to have breakfast and dinner outside – almost too hot in fact. The highlight of our stay here was the food (dinner) which was superb. I loved the fact that the portions were on the small side so one got up feeling just satisfied not over fed. Breakfast was fine – in fact above average for French continental. The big disappointment was the pool. The situation and surrounding areas were lovely, although some of the loungers have seen better days. The little restaurant near the pool serves an excellent luncheon. The pool itself was cloudy and there was a lot of algae around the bottom edges which wasn’t removed the whole three days we used it. There were a lot of children using the pool so the water should be tested and adjusted accordingly each day which it wasn’t. The third day the algae was floating in lumps on the surface together with an enormous amount of dead wasps! Such a shame as this could easily be put right. As I said despite the pool and the bathroom we enjoyed our stay but for the price - which was not insignificant - it needs a bit of an overhaul."

We ate here several times during the recent heatwave . The main reason initially is that visitors can use the pool at the chateau for a small fee. We lunched at tables under the trees in the grounds of the chateau. Lovely fresh fish each time we visited .

The location is very nice...an old castle. Sitting in the nice garden. The people were very friendly. The food was on first sight very nice presented....however the taste of the food was disappointing. It seems the cook was experimenting with different flavors...but for instance...carrots in your dessert...It looked nice, the taste was in my opinion less.We expected more for the price we paid.

Excellent atmosphere, efficient friendly service and superb food. The atmosphere in the garden was peaceful and calm and the table location in the restaurant was in a quite corner. The service very good without being overnearing, and the waiters/waitresses knowledgable about the menu and wines on...offer. The menus was not extensive but would have had choices for most people. The food was cooked and presented perfectly. Not a cheap meal but worth every cent.

As much as I want to love this restaurant, I just can't. We had dinner, my wife and I, two nights in a row. The staff is very friendly but not well trained / experienced. But that's okay. Food choices are extremely limited and expensive. You can feel that the boss is trying his best and it's almost there, but honestly 29 euros for a pasta risotto with 30 grams lobster up is a bit sticky. We loved the settings and we love Arpaillargues-et-Aureillac. We just felt we were paying for something we didn't get completely. View menu

We had lunch in the garden. The terrace was in the back of the garden, some 100 meters away from the pool. Beautiful sights of the perfectly crafted and maintained garden. The hotel itself is situated on the other side of the road (more a path for pedestrians). At dinner they set up the tables in front of the hotel (Relais et Chateaux) with its magnificent trees: take a special look to the fig tree left from the entrance of the hotel...The food was straight forward. We had a three course lunch menu. Good quality, large portions. But the setting. AMAZING!

We dined on the terrace outside the front of this very charming eighteenth century chateau set in an attractive old village. Dinner was a set menu of 3 courses priced at 50 euros. The style is modern French but combining ingredients that do go together. I enjoyed foie gras followed by a piece of veal wrapped in bacon with artichoke sauce. There is a good selection of local wines as well as other French classics. The service was somewhat haphazard with wine glasses not being refilled and a fairly lengthy wait before our order was taken. It is worth dining here because of rhe beautiful surroundings.

We visited here in July with some friends, as my wife and a friend has last dined here 35 years earlier, a splash out for impoverished students at the time.We had a lovely time. The food was generally good, though the fish was a bit overcooked (as the French so often do). The desserts were lovely. The service was good until the end of the meal when everyone disappeared. The principle reason for dining here is the lovely outdoor space the restaurant occupies in the summer -- it's a lovely garden, cooled by overhanging trees and well away from the road, so it is quiet and calm.Definitely worth the excursion.

We were staying in this hotel (as part of a hike with Inntravel.co.uk) and were looking forward to our dinner at the restaurant. We had a drink before dinner and then went in and there was only one couple in the restaurant when we were seated and presented with the menus. Once we had read the menus, the restaurant had filled up and we noticed everyone was getting served except us, but we thought we would wait to see what happened. If anyone had even acknowledged our existence we would have been mollified but there was not a word, not a glance from him or the waitress there. According to them we did not exist and 20 to 25 minutes later we asked the head waiter if we could please have service....

"The best meal I have had in a very long time. Located in a small picturesque village not far from Uzes. From the outside, it looks like a run-down bar-cafe, but the food is incredible! I had the daily special of seiche (cuttlefish) and steamed...potatoes w aioli sauce. The seiche was as tender as salmon steak. The sauce gave a wonderful flavor. Paradise. Served cold (i.e. more or less room temperature) with a nice side salad (and scrumptious tasty bread). Apx euros and worth every centime. The other dishes were euros. My wife and daughter-in-law and her daughter all ordered shrimp in saffron sauce and loved it, Served with great pommes frites (they let me taste). My son ordered veal milanaise( served with an excellent tomato-based sauce and accompanied with al dente pasta. The veal itself was very tasty, which is not always the case these days. After this meal, no room for dessert, but my wife and I could not resist the creme caramel which is unbelievably onctuous and smooth. The others ordered a chocolate fondu cake of some sort, but the creme was so good that I didn't want to dilute the flavor by tasting the cake which they said was intensely chocolaty. In sum, very highly recommended. Food as good as anything I have had in the very elegant St Germain, my previous home. BTW, it was a lovely, cool August evening so we ate outside on a little tree-shaded square surrounded by lovely old stone architecture. If you like that sort of thing, leave time for a stroll around the village. PS -One of the rare occasions to order Jupiler on tap [beer] at a restaurant in this area. Served nice and cold."
