"Our hotel recommended this lovely brasserie, which is in the heart of the shopping district. It was just an 8 minute walk from our hotel on the Rue de Rivoli, and on a lovely spring night was just what we needed. Service was very friendly -- and fantastic. We never felt rushed nor did we feel as though we were 'in the way' with our lack of French. The decor is warm and inviting - very comfortable seating. My daughter chose the John Dory and I had the veal stew - both specialities of the restaurant. The fish was brought out in a copper pan prior to being filleted, and the veal stew was served from a hot copper pot. Flavors were wonderful -- we both really enjoyed the dishes.Another speciality of the restaurant is their profiteroles for dessert -- they are light and airy and served with a nice vanilla ice cream and decadent hot chocolate sauce. Yum!Because we shared a starter and the profiteroles the staff plated each on two plates for us -- without asking. We thought that was a wonderful touch and appreciated them doing that! This was a lovely last meal for us in the city of light --a nice ending to a fabulous trip!"

We came back 20 months after. In previous times in Paris, somehow we couldn't make it there, either it was closed, either it was full with no vacant table. The food was OK. No less, no more. Our waiter was excellent, his colleague was quite a disaster. Prices went up a bit, and it made us feel a bit sorry- for us and for them too

the restaurant is by far not as beautiful as the web site it is a fake. chez monsieur belongs to les climats a quite good star place in the 7th of the star but here nix has stained. what we ate was just bad. funny is the wine card it will be few bottles for approx. 50-60 euro the rest is then 90-300 euro. does not fit to the local and especially not to the kitchen.

If you are into bistros - which by the way was a word used by russian cossacks and means 'quick', Chez Monsieur could well be the best bistro in Paris. I agree with the reviewer that the 'Blanqutte de Veau' con easily be the the best veal that anyone, anywhere, can have. I also had a great pork chop. Staff is more than friendly and the wine list a hit. Do make an effort to dine at this excellent bistro¡ We will return¡ View menu

I've been told you're gonna be disappointed. It's okay, no more. it is very good and almost perfectly realized. the calf blanquette alone deserves the movement. absolutely perfect. snails are rare had a more sophisticated butter than usual. damage that they were not hot enough, the snail lukewarm is unpleasant. apart that nothing to say. Many tourists at the table, it is true that it is the archetype of what Americans like to bet.

The blanquette de veau at Chez Monsieur is a real treat - even worth a trip to Paris just to savor it! Charming restaurant off the Place Madeleine. Excellent service, delicious, fresh food. The desserts are home made and excellent, especially the profiteroles. One tip: go early as the specials tend to run out quickly since they buy their products daily to keep the food fresh and the good stuff runs out quickly. We will certainly be back soon!

Our concierge at Buddha Bar hotel suggests Chez Monsieur as a favorite of many staff. We were looking for a truly authentic French Bistro and Chez Monsieur delivered. Friendly and knowledgable staff. We started with a special asparagus starter and for entrees, my daughter had the Beef and I had the specialty La blanquette de veau. Both were great, but I am so pleased to have had the veal. The profiteroles were winderful and finished off a wonderful evening. View menu

This is the ideal place that a traveler hopes to fall into, but you must have a reservation. You'll be lucky if your server is Henri - he his warm, inviting and professional (funny too!)Menu here is short but amazing. Fish is fresh and deboned table-side. Veal stew, the house specialty lives up to the reputation of tender and flavorful. Nice wine list and we love the Chablis. They also offer a hard to find red Sancerre that is very memorable. Price point is very reasonable, don't miss the profiteroles- chocolate sauce from heaven!

I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching Parisian restaurants for our 1 night in Paris coming back from a trip to Croatia. The restaurants I'd visited on previous trips were either closed down or not open the night of our visit. I was looking for something with quaint Parisian bistro/brasserie feel and traditional food. It seemed Chez Monsieur fit the bill. The restaurant was exactly what I was looking for. We had a trying day traveling from Croatia to Paris, then taking the RER into town, and we were tempted to dress in a sweater or pull over. But my husband decided yes we lugged nice clothes all the way over, might as well wear them. I'm glad we did! We were there on a Saturday eveni...
