"We visited Cisswood House on a groupon deal for a spar and treatments; We had a couple of hours first in the hot tub, gym, pool and Sauna which was lovely and very relaxing which is what we needed. The building has a beautiful original part and a new hotel which isn’t that pretty added to the back. The team team had great as we had booked and had to cancel a few times due to hospital this is also part of the reason for such a good score too. The treatments I was a little disappointed as I got a head and shoulder massage and facial but it was more like a gentle stroke it was relaxing but wouldn’t have really called it reflexology, massage etc. My partner described his treatment as much more intensive and deeper. So I have reduced the score by one. The staff where all amazing, lovely and engaging. Tom is the bar is the hidden gem of this place a polite and very helpful man and did his best to ensure all guest where happy and cared for. As the place looked nice we decided to stay for a three course Sunday lunch at £25 per head. Starter Ham hock Terrine, which was lovely but had a very overpowering home made chutney all over it, would have been better on the side or in a small dish but still amazing tastes. We both went for beef and again three huge slices, nice roast potatoes and veg, it came with cauliflower cheese (didn’t say this on the menu but I’m allergic to cheese) however it was in a side dish so the kitchen very kindly and with no fuss swapped for a couple of extra roasties, a good swap in my book. The food was beautiful but slightly over salted and I’ve seen other comments to that too, luckily I hand not seasoned the food before eating it so it was fine but they should reduce the salt in their prep. The pudding, was sticky toffee and butterscotch sauce with clotted cream but sadly was served with ice cream instead but was still lovely. All in all was a beautiful day, in a beautiful setting, with great staff and food above average and if it wasn’t for slightly too salty and bits mentioned as well as both treatments not being the same we would have easily given 5 stars. We will go back and will probably boom one of the entertainment nights which look fun and t only £49 for a meal and act and then a dance at the end for to be worth a visit."

Didn’t even stay the night. We left as it was poor. The staff were friendly but the food was bad and the room we had was very tired. Sandwiches were on the evening menu. Sums it up really.

Recently had afternoon tea at the Cisswood house, it was terrible, the sandwiches, the word comes to mind as rustic, the bread was dry, scones were hard, cakes tasted stale, very disappointing. On the upside the staff were pleasant.

this experience was. To be brief, the meal was awful, the vegetarian fish was wrapped in bacon and the beef, if it was beef was some form of meat rolled into a who knows what. Members of the family complained that the beef did not taste right and everything tasted of salt.

Very surprised to read previous reviews we had a delicious afternoon tea good choice of teas, fresh tasty sandwiches, delicious scones jam and clotted cream and nice cakes couldn't fault the food or the staff. I will admit that the building is tired but nice and warm, with real fires on a very chilly evening!!

The waiter Tom and the manager were nothing but courteous and professional. Unfortunately they were severely let down by whomever was in the kitchen. Something needs to change as the business clearly has so much potential. I will not be returning and would not recommend eating here until serious improvements are made.

My friend and I went here for tea and were served by Alex who was friendly, polite and made us feel welcome and valued customers. We were given a cool timer when the tea arrived to let us know when it would be stewed, which was great. Alex went through the teas giving us knowledgeable advice so we could pick what we'd like. Lovely relaxing atmosphere in the hotel too

For the £185 price tag for one night I would have expected breakfast to be included but accept I should have checked that at booking. However breakfast at nearly £19 a head Is taking advantage of a captive audience. For £185 a night I do expect to have complimentary water in the room, a working shower and decent toilet paper other than the very cheap hard single ply that we had! The hotel itself looks very dated, tired and the furnishings are rather worn and shoddy. The only good thing I can say is that room was clean and a good size and the bed was comfortable.

"So, the first problem was the booking (and the exact same thing had happened the previous time we arrived at this restaurant with an Open Table booking). I had made the booking online and received confirmation both via email and in the OT app, which I could show at the restaurant. When I made the booking very limited times were available: nothing between 11.45am and 2pm, so we assumed the restaurant would be crowded. When we arrived a little before our 2pm booking, it was three-quarters empty and they had no record of my booking. Since the place was largely empty this didn't matter, but on another occasion it might have done. And maybe one reason the place was so empty was that other potential customers had also seen no availability between 11.45am and 2pm, so Cote had no online bookings. Either Open Table or Cote need to sort out what is wrong with their booking systems as it seems that in Horsham at least the systems do not talk to each other. The food was fine, typical Cote just as you would expect, but the service was disappointing. In a largely empty restaurant one might expect efficient and attentive service but we got nothing of the sort. It was hard to get attention from any server and we had to request some items several times. Someone who from her dress was probably the duty manager, spent most of her time lounging or chatting with other staff members rather than making sure customers got good service."
