"My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in September 20. Our room had a sea view on the first floor, it was spacious, clean, and had an excellent view of the golf course and seafront. One criticism is that the tea and coffee making facilities were not stocked, and our room was not serviced during our stay due to covid restrictions. This was a minor inconvenience but it slightly affected our visit. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and were pleased with the staff and food. Breakfast was table service only with a good selection and delicious full English and eggs benedict. For dinner, we both enjoyed the three-course set menu with scallops and salmon for starters, and lamb and duck breast for mains, both beautifully presented with excellent service."

With so many places to eat in the area Craigleith needs to pull its sock up. Chaotic restaurant, food ok but not worth the price tag.

The food was delicious. We found the Fixed Price Menu to be more appealing than the A la Carte option. The hot breakfast was especially enjoyable, and was served directly from the kitchen.

My daughter and I ate in the restaurant on Friday and the food and presentation were very good, wine reasonable and the staff very courteous, friendly and attentive. Breakfasts were also excellent. We would return.

Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner presentation was second to none, prawn cocktail served in a mason jar with a quaver of toast, the blade of beef was presented like a medallion of beef very succulent and just fell away from the fork. View menu

Had our meal here again on Saturday night and really enjoyed it once more. I had the pork and black pudding starter followed by chicken and then cheesecake, everything was very good. Our friends really enjoyed their meals as well. Good service.

Not only was the food absolutely amazing in the Craigleith Restaurant, the friendliness of the staff really made our evening special. We met a very nice member of staff called Amerjeet who was exceptionally kind and thoughtful. This restaurant is top class!

Stayed at the Macdonalds hotel recently and had our included evening meals here and breakfasts. Absolutely faultless, fantastic food and service. We were very lucky as well because we were given great seats overlooking the fantastic views of the Firth of Forth. We were very impressed and will return in the near future. View menu

My husband and I ate at the Craigleith Restaurant when we were staying at the hotel. I wasn’t sure what to expect given the negative reviews. However we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive. The food was very good quality. The restaurant itself had a cosy feel to it although it was large. Decor was traditional but in keeping with the rest of the hotel. We really enjoyed our meal there.

I dined at the restaurant and it was absolutely terrible in every possible way! The food was awful, the starter tasted like it came from frozen farm foods. The menu had two terrines on the starter list, who even likes terrine? The menu was very limited. The monkfish was dry and the "side plate of mac n cheese" was a massive full plate of overcooked and bland pasta. There were flies around our table and the olive oil and vinegar seemed to be cheap vegetable oil. There were no tablecloths and the salads were not dressed properly. This is definitely not a 4-star hotel!
