"Lovely place. 1st timer and definitely won't be our last. Staff all very polite and professional. Walked through bar area which was very busy on a Sunday tea time. Restaurant not big but big enough for pleasant meal. Food ordered and came very quickly, fresh and piping hot. Delicious too!! Order the jaffa cake cheesecake for afters, it was one of the best cakes I've ever had!!!. Saying I don't like ice cream which this dish came with wallings ice cream, I cant tell you how nice it was, you need to go here, its just lovely."

"I expected this place to be fantastic from a recommendation, food was good but not great. One massive let down from my experience….if you are going to an establishment like this you would expect the cheesecake to be a proper one that is baked, not just cream cheese with a biscuit base. I think they forgot to add vanilla too, it was limp and had no flavour at all, just cream cheese and I didnt eat it. The only plus side of my experience was the staff were outstanding, polite, attentive and just all round nice, a credit to the place without doubt, shame the food didn’t match up."

"I stopped by for lunch without any expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the charming atmosphere and delicious food. I started with calamari, followed by a dish called Kings and Queens, which featured scallops, squid, and prawns on small toast drizzled with a hint of balsamic. It was beautifully presented, had a wonderful texture, and tasted fantastic. Overall, I’m very satisfied. Service: 5, Location: 5."

"The staff here are brilliant and the hotel is beautiful. The breakfast is really good, and having use of the swimming pool and fitness areas adds value. However, there were a few minor issues during our stay, hence four stars, not five. Firstly, noisy people next door and/or ghosts. If the noise was from ghosts then fair enough, they were here before me, but if from humans, please don't hold loud conversations between 1am and 6am as the sound travels. Secondly, the room was very dark, which was great at night but not during the day. Thirdly the room was cold in the day and hot at night (I guess the curtains really help insulate the room). There's a fan in the wardrobe, but it seems this is an inelegant solution. Finally, there was a tour of Lancaster castle included in the package we purchased, but we were not told about this. In summary, the staff are polite and friendly, but for a hotel at this price, the problems outlined above shouldn't occur."

"A lively meal this evening, we had a 2 course with a bottle of wine and no major complaints. The starters, we had chicken parfait which was lovely and one of the best I’ve had for a while. The mains; beef was tender and lovely, so was the Pork Belly, 2 dishes that we would recommend. The Chicken Milanese was okay, but nothing great. We would however avoid the onion rings, they unfortunately weren’t very nice. Portion sizes were good, not too big however not too small, a nice size for a 2 course meal. Staff were lovely, polite and friendly and the place has a relaxed environment which was nice. They were unfortunately out of the 2 different bottles of wine which we wanted, and it would have been good to know prior to us looking at the menu that they didn’t have these. We also weren’t given a drinks menu so had no idea of the beers, drafts and cocktails that they had without asking."
