"The four of us arrived at Poilane at 0945 We were told that there were plenty of seats at the back, that was it. Infact there were two tables of 2 next to each other so we sat there. After ten minutes or so a waiter arrived and took our drinks order, coffee orange juice and water. 12 minutes later coffee arrived and then orange juice. we ordered pastries, fruit and boiled egg for our 7 year old grand daughter. My pastry came within minutes. My wife came 20 minutes later At 10.35 the eggs were put on the chefs counter. After 7 minutes I went and asked if I could take them,. No we'll bring them to you I was told. 5 minutes later they and the fruit arrived, the fruit was fizzy! We had to leave by ten to eleven and I asked for the bill. I had to stand by the til until it was finally produced. WITH service charge on it! which I refused to pay. I slight apology from the manageress but the staff did NOT appear to care. Do NOT go there it is frankly AWFUL"

Wonderful service considering that this place is always full. We usually visit them when in London and buy delicious bread to bring back to Los Angeles. All new faces working there.

Have popped in before to buy bread. This time also visited the toilet. What an eye opener. Not quite what I exoected. Absolutely disgusting. Very dirty and broken down. Left without buying the bread.

If you're looking to try the most dense scones ever made, be sure to visit Poilane. These scones are so firm that even pressing them with your finger won't leave a mark. They come with a generous serving of whipped cream and a small portion of clotted cream.

Service very poor. Staff very reluctant to serve customers. Waited 20 minutes, no one interested to come to our table nor even the tables beside us. My husband had to speak to the Manager and complain in French to get any service. Food overpriced and mediocre. View menu

I wrote a scathing review on their website which was a true reflection of my experience there. The waitress had an appalling attitude, she was rude and uninterested. As if that wasn't enough, they overcharged me. shortly after submitting it, they removed the review from their website. This should tell you everything you need to know. No need to say anything further.

Today we visited this restaurant and bought three cakes: a sourdough, a classic 'sables', and a carrot cake. The carrot cake was bland, oily, and possibly the worst carrot cake in London. The lemon and poppy cake seemed at least two days old, and the last cake, which was orange and had chocolate chips, was unidentifiable and just very bad. All three cakes ended up in the trash. It was a major disappointment.

I have held out for over a year before writing this review. I have been coming here at least weekly for years and the standard was always high. I have to agree with the review of July which said that since the manager arrived a year or so ago standards have slipped. To put it mildly. He barely greets you. The menus are dog eared. The cutlery is in the middle of the large table (which is barely reachable) this used to be delivered with the food. The coffee is undrinkable and when I told this to the manager he shrugged his shoulders. What a great shame. The bread and the croissants are great but you can buy those to take away and go and have your coffee at Hagen down the kings road where the g... View menu

I was appalled to discover there is no disabled access to toilets at Poilane in 38 Cadogan Gardens. I recently visited with my mother who walks with a stick and has difficulty with stairs. The staff saw this as they seated us but they never warned us of the lack of access. Had they done so we would have gone elsewhere. It is particularly unacceptable because it is a new business so I don’t see how this lack of facilities is acceptable. It is also possibly illegal as restaurants have a duty to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ for people with disabilities. Given that this is a new business I fail to see how it is reasonable not to provide disabled toilets. Also the coffee is awful, the famous brea...

On Wednesday, February 12th, we enjoyed two delicious salads at this restaurant while taking a lunch break from shopping. If I were to visit again, I would prefer takeout due to the service we received. The staff seemed dismissive when we mentioned we had been waiting for 20 minutes, making us feel like an inconvenience. The food was hastily placed in front of us when it arrived. Despite considering leaving, we felt unsure of our surroundings as tourists and struggled to find another restaurant. We regretted coming here as we observed everyone receiving the same cold and unpleasant service. While I wanted to address the rudeness of the employees, I refrained from doing so. The employees coul...
