"Just popped in to try a couple of whiskies before dinner. Lucky to get the final 2 seats in the bar (around 7pm time Not being a whisky drinker we asked for advice and the bar man said he always recommends the local ones as not only are they good but they're also small batch. We took his advice and had a dram each of a bottle that had dolphins on the label from the Thompson Bros Distillery (just next door we had it straight up (the horror on his face when we asked for one ice cube : it was really very good. A slight burn of the throat but extremely smooth. We had time to try another, this time I asked to try a speyside. I smelt it and it was almost sherry smelling. 11 year Glenallachie. This was nice but i preferred the first one. The cost of each dram was £5 the price varies obviously depending on what you pick.Cosy atmosphere in the bar area wide choice of other drinks too and an outside space."

The best place to drink Scotch Whisky in Scotland. Stuff you can't get anywhere else, probably in the World.NOT bonkers pricing.

Atmospheric whisky bar in Dornoch Castle, amazingly well stocked including bottles from their very own Dornoch distillery. Fab place with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Covid compliance in place.

Cosy drinks in the bar, followed by moving outside to see the New Year in. Wonderful with the piper on the roof and spectacular fire works. Then back in for more drinks. A lovely evening in a beautiful place with lovely staff! View menu

In the Castle Whisky Bar we enjoyed the atmosphere and a tailor-made whisky flight. Restaurant is a bit noisy; but warm welcome and friendly service. We had a delicious starter and a very well presented and tasteful main course. Highlight: The whiskey bar !

A fine establishment, very happy with our accommodation, we booked a twin room and ended up with a suite, which was lovely. The bar was very cosy and the staff couldn't be nicer. I would however not recommend evening meals in the restaurant. Food was extremely over priced for what it was and the dining room decor and ambience left a lot to be desired. The young staff, however friendly were very inexperienced for the prices.

"Glorified Public School Dinner food hiding behind a beautiful scenic dining area. Server wasn 't too bothered about their job, kinda like it doesn 't matter what food they did and didn 't have in that day. Seemed very excited when leaving the table to tend an empty bar. Didn 't ask once if food was okay, if they had I 'd of mentioned the myriad of wrongs occurring upon the three plates in front of us. Ordered from evening menu, beef burger, chicken burger and garlic bread. The former two came with undercooked chips (as if the fryer was just turned on for our meal), pale onion rings, two dimensional tomato slices (two of per burger), two measly leafs of lettuce and no house sauce of any kind. I 've had tastier PVA glue than the coleslaw. My partners chips were akin to hash browns but undercooked. The beef burger had one thing going for it, there was Infact beef on it. The chicken burger my partner had was tasteless and fell apart. Garlic bread appeared to be some kind of muffin or cinnamon swirl that was re purpoused for our order. Aside it was a teeny tiny salad, which actually contained a highlight from my experience: red onion that actually tasted of onion/unlike the onion dense coleslaw. All in all, me and my partner left feeling like our local kebab shop would have left us more impressed. As we were leaving the server told us she didn 't mind that there was some issues with the card reader as it 'filled her time as she has nothing else to do '. It should be noted they were wearing their outside clothes and served us with the jacket on. Chef was seen at bar after meal, standing not doing much. The main concern for the staff appeared to be; what music was being played as they skipped through the world 's most disorganised playlist (no, no one wants to listen to loch lomond while they are eating). Speaking as a working chef, I feel my wife could cook a better meal with half the ingredients and equipment than this 'professional ' kitchen can. The opertunity to do better is overwhelming, however it will take a long time before you convince me to enter with an empty stomach again. Wheelchair accessibility: It 's not friendly for those that are handicapped in any way. Steep narrow stairs and difficult to navigate room space."
