"This is by far the worst, most unsettling, uncomfortable and creepy experience I have had to endure whilst eating out. Firstly we were 'welcomed ' down numerous steps with a pram, it would have been nice for the boy showing us to our table to have prepared us for the maze of narrow doorways and steps, even perhaps offered a hand instead of waiting rather bemused for us to tackle the obstacle course. Not only were we sat at the furthest table but also next to the most disturbingly rude elderly couple (who I presume are locals or atleast regulars as they bought the chef jelly beans? After calling the waitress a 'sl*g ' as she walked away for forgetting his whiskey, they then proceeded to talk about my partner and I in a perverted and creepy manner within perfect ear shot for us to hear. It was quite clear they had nothing better to do with their lives and had given up any form of civilisation skills. I appreciate this was not the establishments fault however the food was also pretty poor and overpriced, I would have expected homemade bread or just fresh atleast, rather than a stale roll. We would rather have not paid for this abysmal experience however upon leaving we then had to wait and look around for atleast 15 minutes to actually find someone to pay. It is safe to say we will not be returning here and I would advise anyone to steer clear."

Both my husband and I are vegan. We had different dishes and both were superb; amongst the best we’ve had. Friendly service and good beer too.

Comfortable accommodation. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic evening meal! and very good breakfast. Great for walkers of Offa’s Dyke- will pick up and drop off from/to path.

We come here quite often and never had a bad meal. We’ve had the homemade burgers the fish pie and today we had the homemade steak suet and it’s consistently good. Sunday dinners are decent as well

We were sat in the dog friendly part of the restaurant which was very comfortable for us and our two greyhounds. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced.

This was the only pub open we could find but it was such a find. Cosy, warm and welcoming with the friendliest, helpful staff. Had a lovely table out of the way and everywhere was decorated overly and Christmassy. There was plenty of choice on the menu and all the food was delicious and well presented. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back if in the area.

We have visited recently on a few occasions and always feel there’s a very warm welcome in this lovely country pub. We decided to book for a Sunday roast and were very pleased. The staff are very friendly and service is excellent. The food was beautiful, we had the lamb and beef dinners and everything about it was perfect. We will definitely book again. It was very busy so definitely recommend booking.

Stopped as beer garden looked nice. Ordered a Cajun chicken and bacon hot sandwich for £9.50 looked like off cuts of chicken and bacon tasted awful and came with the smallest salad and about 5 crisps not to mention it was cold. Also got a garlic ciabatta (paid an extra £1 for cheese) and came as only half a ciabatta for £5.95!!! Was hardly toasted more like bread with cheese. Ridiculously expensive. Spoke to the bar lady who sorted it straight away and gave me a new portion with the remaining half of the ciabatta. Wish I asked for my money back. Nice beer but not good food not to mention the price. Worked in the food industry and never had to send food back or write a bad review before.

Visiting my husbands mum as she’s recovering from a bad fall, thought it would be nice to take her for a bite to eat whilst the sun is shining. Hadn’t been here for quite a while and was pleasantly surprised that it’s a really good place for decent food. Sat outside soaking up the sun with drinks whilst we decided what to eat. It’s not a huge menu to choose from but there is something for everyone including a great choice of roasts for a Sunday lunch. Two roasts and a 10oz Gammon ordered, although it was busy the staff were attentive and food came in a reasonable amount of time. Would definitely recommend. Mid range on pricing, the food was beautifully presented and enough of it to feel full...
