"The location is amazing but the tea room is the only place serving food and drinks for miles. We waited at least 40 minutes for our baked potatoes to arrive, I think they maybe went to pick them up first... I asked to take my food outside as the restaurant was hot and stuffy not sure if the windows were open) and they complained that swapping plates for takeaway boxes increased the wait. The food was bland. A bad experience overall. I think someone should set up food trucks in the car park and serve some healthy and tasty food and coffees. Bute is a beautiful island. The people are lovely, but the food and service are not up to scratch!"

The cafe was busy but they managed to find a table for 8 people. The service was friendly and quick. We all enjoyed the food which was very plentiful and reasonably priced.

Drove up to Ettrick Bay. Cafe very busy and took a while to get a table and place order. Coffee arrived piping hot but toasted sandwiches took so long to appear that coffees had gone lukewarm

This restaurant is always our top choice when we visit the island. The staff are extremely friendly and always willing to assist with anything. They even take the time to chat with our children. The food is consistently delicious and of high quality. This hidden gem comes highly recommended. View menu

After reading some reviews I've got to say It's a cafe not a restaurant Don't expect champagne for a beer budget My snacks at tea time to take to pod for 3 adults and 1 infant 2 chips, 1 curly fries, 1 onion rings tub of curry sauce £17 Very good portions and very nicely seasoned Breakfast 4 four of us £34 Yes it had grease on it But does bacon ,tattie scones, sausages etc Not get cooked in fat ????

We visited the aisle of Bute while on holiday. Over heard Ettrick Bay as a lovely beach to visit. Ettrick Bay Tearooms are situated next to it. We were warmly welcomed by the lady who seated us and took our orders at the table. Best breakfast had in a long while, and selection of home made cakes and desserts is incredible. Very good value for money. Great food Great views Highly recommended place to eat.

We decided to stop by this restaurant as most other places were closed for the season. I opted for chicken tenders with curly fries, while my wife chose a baked potato. Our meals were served promptly and did not disappoint. They were the perfect comfort food for a cold, rainy day. We also treated ourselves to two slices of lemon meringue cheesecake to enjoy later at the cottage, and it was delicious. We highly recommend this place. View menu

Have been going to bute for nearly 10 years now for a few days at a time and have regularly seen the cafe so decided to have breakfast there and was definitely disappointed. The food arrived and the 2 slices of toast one was uneatable as it was just black, all the eggs were overcooked. The rest was fine. £9.50 was overpriced I would say even tho it included a drink. Lovely views on a windy day, cafe was clean but drab inside. Won't have breakfast there again but will try in the summer months for Cake and a drink.

We visited today and wanted to sit outside, but every trash bin was overflowing on this lovely day, causing the outdoor seating area to be swarming with flies and wasps. The food inside was decent, but the restroom lacked toilet paper. The waitress had to close the outdoor restroom to get a new roll, but the dispenser was jammed and impossible to access. The system was poorly designed with no way to fix it. They really need to improve the trash situation and restroom maintenance. It's a beautiful location to visit, but I would only recommend the cafe for ice cream.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
