"Came here last week with my husband for a treat! Staff were attentive, customer service was second to none despite it being very busy. We were served by a lovely girl called Lizzie? Greeted with a lovely smile, gave us just the right time to chose, drinks out quickly and didn't feel rushed one bit! We said what a hard working team they were looked like they gelled well together, enjoying their shift! Great customer service is hard to come by these days so felt it worthy of note!!! Food was hot fresh and cocktails were delicious too! Well done F&Bs Shrewsbury! X"

Came here with my girlfriend last night as a late valentines treat. Felt very welcomed and as soon as we entered the building we was acknowledged straight away. Considering the restaurant was rather full nothing was too much trouble and the service was super speedy. Our waitress seemed to be on hand at all times. Food was excellent also. Will definitely be returning and recommending. Thank you

It's never going to be a high quality gourmet meal but it is good for other reasons, the kids love the food and drink menu, they love doing the little kids packs/activities and the food is generally decent, service again is generally decent, atmosphere is good and food tends to arrive pretty quickly. They are good at sorting birthdays and bringing out cakes etc. Some days it's better than others. Its convenient and prices are fair.

I have to say the atmosphere is beautiful. I never had a single problem with my food. it was good what I paid. all employees were very tailored to my needs. very helpful. I've never been here before, what I ever had to know or just ask the simple ones what is best to order. one who stood out was a young man named ellis. very polite and very friendly. Even with my children, he locked them up. nothing was too much for him. all employees were very nice. will definitely return and recommend to others : View menu

What a pleasant surprise! Having turned vegan recently I thought I might struggle to find good chain restaurant food, but my first visit here completely blew me away. There are plenty of vegan options, and the food is really very good and beats the competition hands down. If you are vegan or thinking about turning to the dark side then this will surprise you. Well done guys, keep it up and fly the vegan flag, there's a lot of is out there that want to eat out and not suffer the usual rubbish. Great work!

visited on a Sunday. was greeted at the door by a friendly and welcoming waitress who has provided us a table and menus. after a suitable time we were asked for our orders. the food came fast and was of a good standard. we also had desserts that arrived after just a short waiting period. our table has always been immediately clarified and at any time the employees were responsive and friendly. there are background music, but this is on the right level and not in vain loud. a good place to visit a relaxing meal.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
