"The staff are all helpful and friendly, as usual and the coffee hot and tasty. However, this visit was quite disappointing in other respects: The prawn salad was OK but no tomatoes, croutons or anything interesting in it and expensive at over £10, just lettuces and a bit of cucumber. The cheese and ham melt was fine. The table outside was at a ludicrous angle: so much so that my husband’s knife fell onto the floor and the coffees were at a dangerously sloping angle. The waitress came out to fix the table, couldn’t do anything at all with it but then said it was level. My husband almost fell over when he tried to stand up but I managed to catch him in time. The smell as you go down to the toilets is appalling. It’s never been like that before. The loo itself was clean though and didn’t smell. May give it another try sometime but unimpressed today."

I had eggs Benedict with salmon and the eggs were perfect. Friendly (non chain coffee shop) and service with a smile. I would visit again

Quite traditional on first impression, but some unusual and delicious food combos, excellent “old fashioned” service (ie: the customer is most important! , scrupulously clean and overall just great!

I come here every time I am home. They really do have the Best coffee around, homemade lunches and fresh sandwiches. Super chilled compared to the rest around and staff are always friendly. Would highly recommend.

I went to Frothys this morning for breakfast and ordered the smoky bean hash with mushrooms and the smoky bean hash with ham. Both dishes were delicious and unique for a breakfast menu. The staff were fantastic as always and the drinks were perfect. Another wonderful experience at Frothys, as it always is when we visit Stamford.

Came to visit Stamford from Cheshire. Frothys was recommended to us by friends and we were not disappointed. I had the Steak Stilton Rarebit with house salad and it was done to perfection. My son enjoyed cheese on toast with a nice cold Apple juice. Love atmosphere with very friendly staff. Could not recommend enough. Picture included.

I and my family recently visited Frothys in Crewe. We were warmly welcomed by friendly staff who promptly took our orders. The service was exceptional - very attentive and efficient. The food was hot, tasty, and delicious, with a great selection of hot and cold drinks available. If you happen to be passing by, I highly recommend stopping in at Frothys.

We stopped by Stamford for a family outing and were looking for a place to have lunch. We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious homemade tomato and chilli soup that was absolutely perfect. They were also able to accommodate our son's dairy allergy by providing dairy-free butter for his toast. The coffee was served at the perfect temperature and was very smooth.

I always visit Frothys whenever in town because I particularly enjoy good old fashioned service with a smile and fantastic food and drink. I had the specials homemade soup of the day, it was lovely and thick and served with fresh chunky bread and butter. The rest of the family had hot rolls and full English. Highly recommend. Good value, and delicious. Thank you Frothys.

Went here for coffee and a cake as it is top in Trip Advisor. There are table outside plus some on the ground floor and more in the basement. Inside it it is table service and our order was quickly taken. We ordered flat white coffees and a piece of the glazed banana cake. They came reasonably quickly. The flat whites were quite large and the coffee wasn’t the tastiest. The cake was quite large but there was no sign of bananas and I wondered if it was made with banana essence. Staff were friendly and doing their best but it wasn’t a good cafe.

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
