"We visit this restaurant about once a month for a leisurely tea, and it never disappoints. The café is always pristine, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion of fish for the medium size; it was cooked perfectly and served with a delightful mushy peas in a large pot. They are accommodating and happy to serve dishes individually or as part of a meal. The bread is beautifully toasted and topped with real butter. My son adores the rich milkshakes, and we all enjoy the cakes along with a nice pot of proper tea. It’s definitely worth a visit!"

Better than Steel's and Ernie Beckett's in Cleethorpes and as good as Papa's at Willerby. Lovely batter, fresh white fish and excellent chips. Nice decor and friendly attentive staff 5/5. Will definitely go again.

A truly charming little café with delicious food. The samosas were delightful, and the lovely pot of Yorkshire tea was a nice touch. The staff were wonderfully warm and accommodating, especially since I had my four-week-old baby with our group. View menu

The fish and chips here are fantastic! In addition to that, there are other menu options, including a full English breakfast served until 10:30. The scampi, sausage, and the cake of the day are all wonderful, and the coffee is amazing paired with delicious desserts. The decor is quite imaginative, and the individual towels in the restroom are a nice touch. Be sure to make a reservation to secure your spot—you won’t want to miss this brilliant place!

Came across this cafe by accident just at the right time. Tastefully decorated and clean with the added touch of framed napkins of pencil drawings by a Friday regular to the cafe. Fish and chips were amazing with a side helping of mushy peas if desired. Tea in a beautiful matching teaset. All served by a friendly, personable young gentlemen. My husband said the Victoria sponge was fabulous. And I think the poshest toilet in a cafe I’ve ever seen! Definitely on our map for a place to revisit.

"Iconic pub that has been through many changes of hands..we had really very good food here. Roast dinner with Fresh veg, with cauliflower cheese, and cheesy leaks as lovely extras. The best vegetarian gravy ever with my veg pie with homemade pastry lid. Portions could be smaller to make it more profitable though? The downside of this very old pub is that it needs an injection of cash to refurb it. Although it looks better in the dining room than before, over all the toilets need doing and it needs some interior styling and new stuff like a proper coffee machine. They could then offer mums with prams coffee and cake on certain mornings or afternoons as there are plenty walking by for school runs! The plus sides are the charming open fires and ample parking and the food- it really should be packed for dinners as the food is good (although the menu is too large- thinking of the Gordon Ramsay rule! The TV has no place in the dining room as there’s one in the bar anyway. The man serving us was friendly but no smiles or communication from the lady behind the bar. Also it would help if they dressed in a simple uniform- eg black shirt as they all looked too casual. The pub needs to make itself known for the good home cooked food and ask the brewery for help with refurbishments. It could be as busy as The Stag at Lelley with investment and tweaking! Please go and support"

"After booking a half term family holiday through Hoseasons the kids were really looking forward to their first holiday this year due to Covid 19 and lockdown. We arrived quite late on a Friday at 8pm after driving there straight after work and went to the main Cowden holiday park reception but it was closed, I was then told by the bar staff at the holiday park pub to go to the cross keys pub down the road to collect keys for the caravan from there. I collected the keys from the pub and was then told that the caravan was sited behind the cross keys pub with several other caravans, which I thought was odd as we had booked to stay at Cowden holiday park which this didn’t really seem to be part of. On entering the caravan (no 10) the holiday started to get a lot worse!! Everything in the caravan was either sticky or dirty and the carpet to the living area was half missing! (See picture). The Sofa to the living area was well worn and also felt sticky and smelled really bad!! As it was getting late by this point and travelling some way to get there we decided to clean the caravan surfaces with anti bacterial spray and try to sort it out with reception in the morning. We went to the main reception in the morning at Cowden holiday park and told the receptionist about the situation and was told there were no more available caravans due to half term break and the only option would be to get a refund, which we ended up taking! Not only did this leave my children upset and without a holiday that they had been looking forward to, but to let a family with children stay in a dirty caravan during Covid Pandemic peak times and to have not even attempted to clean the surfaces, you people should be ashamed of yourself!! Absolutely pathetic standards!! To be honest I wouldn’t have let a dog stay in this caravan!!"
