"I don't really see why people make a big deal about this restaurant. We didn't order any smoked beef in part because I lived in NYC and have visited Montreal, so I have a high standard and didn't want to compare Gaby's with the best. Instead we ordered the daily special which was meatballs with rice and a lentil soup. The meal was ordinary at best, and the service was dreadfully unfriendly. The bathroom looked (but happily didn't smell) like China in the 1980s. The ambience was cramped and noisy thanks to one celebratory table. I'd advise anybody to give this place a pass."

Went in for a cuppa on a chilly Sunday evening. Had heard it was a nice deli.

I've been eating at Gaby's since 1989. Excellent food at good prices. An absolute institution for true Londoners.

Just had humus, falafel and salad in pitta. Amazing value and so tasty. Been visiting Gaby’s for the last 20 years consistently excellent. If you are in the west end check it out View menu

The hummus, falafel, and salt beef sandwiches at this restaurant are fantastic. It's a unique spot in London with delicious food and a fantastic atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Small and unpretentious. If you want elegant and smart go elsewhere. The service was quick but rather workmanlike but the falafel was terrific and the theatre posters and photos covering the walls were very interesting.

Oh my God, I went to Gaby's deli to get my regular lunch only to find it closed. This place served the best falafels and salads in London, for only 5. I would have happily paid 7 for the same. Please come back, Gaby, you were healthy and tasty, and you will be missed! View menu

I have passed by and bought a salt beef sandwich to take out before but just assumed it hit all the right spots with me personally. I took my 9yr old daughter in for lunch to eat in and while she ate her meal I asked if she wanted to try a bit of my sandwich basically she ate my meal at a speed I've never seen before! The best bar none, honestly food that makes you feel like crying with joy

I went to this deli last night to grab a bite to eat. When I walked in, I initially thought it would be filled with hipsters, but luckily they were just picking up food to go. There was a line with a few people waiting for a table, but it cleared up quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by the random and cool decorations in the restaurant. The food was delicious, although the presentation could use some improvement.

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
