"We were staying at The Norfolk Arms for a couple of nights, in a dog friendly room, and had decided to have brunch in town, as the hotel stops serving breakfast at 9.30 a.m., which was too early for us. The hotel provided a basic visitor map for the town and Gaskyns advertised as being friendly “for well behaved dogs and children”. The café is in a nice historic building, of which there are many in Arundel, just a short walk from The Norfolk Arms, over the bridge. It is linked to the store next door, possibly with the same owners. There are a wide range of options in the all day breakfast menu. I opted for the Spanish breakfast chorizo and fried eggs, cooked in the same pan, with cherry tomatoes, on toast. Jacci had beans on toast, a healthier option. The service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed it so much, that we went back the next day! We would definitely eat here again, though we heard through the grapevine that the building may revert to residential use at some point."

Visited this cafe last week. Good food with vegan options. When we visited the vegan cake was being baked.

A great dog friendly venue serving breakfasts lunches drinks etc. Lovely food made fresh to order. A real find with parking close by. Situated in Arundel for sightseeing and by the river.

A pleasant coffee shop/cafe with good quality food and drinks. It is also a popular venue for the 'yummy mummies/toddler owners and the place can become very crowded with noisy children and large pushchairs.

We desperately need the loo and a drink after driving for 1.5 hours so we followed the signs from the car park to Gaskyns and weren't disappointed! The Chamomile Tea was perfect and their Ginger and Orange Curd Cake was divine! View menu

Try parking outside as we did by accident when looking for a place to have brunch. We certainly overstayed the one hour time limit and we enjoyed an excellent selection of dishes, served in a friendly and timely manner. Very relaxed and welcoming café highly recommended.

Based just off Arundel town centre, Gaskyns is a friendly casual cafe/ restaurant with lovely food and nice friendly staff. Prices reflect its close proximity to both Arundel Castle and other attractions but won’t disappoint your palate. Would highly recommend when visiting the area.

Just over the bridge, and therefore away from the main tourist beat, this place has to be just that bit better, and it is. Spotlessly clean with chirpy staff, picture gallery and small terrace, it ensured that we will revisit next time that we are in Arundel. There is one outside table on the pavement at the front, and it was this that attracted us initially to the place.. View menu

Been looking for descent coffee in Arundel and discovered Gaskyns. Little bit out of the centre of town almost opposite the co op but well worth the effort to find it. Coffee was excellent and the crocque Monsieur was super. Bacon sandwich could have done with a little more bacon though but the bread was delicious. Comfortable sofas as well as tables and chairs and lots of arty cards and stuff to explore in the cafe as well as a small wine deli attached. Will make this a regular haunt now!!!

We visited as a family of 5 whilst on the way to the Arundel festival and arrived late morning. The breakfast/lunch menu looked ok and the staff were nice but the food was poor. The mushrooms with the breakfast were dried instead of fried and the offered poached eggs were not available and the fried alternative not cooked properly. I wasn’t convinced that the bacon was cooked properly either. If this is just been one plate it might have been a mistake but all our meals were poor. Disappointing.

"Went with my partner who’d been here a good few years before and had fond memories of it. It’s changed! I was told on the phone it was advisable to book, I have no idea why as it was practically empty. We were pretty much ignored when we got there by an older woman behind the bar but hoped it would get better. The elderly woman on another table went off to find her own pepper so I should’ve known then. We ordered drinks and one pint of flat coke later we asked to send it back, I was told it was indeed real Coke by the sullen looking waitress wearing cycling shorts. She then admitted it wasn’t real Coke and did he want a bottle of that. We were waiting so long for our food that dirty glasses were accumulating on the table and at one point we put them up on the window sill. Then noticed a dirty big stain on the table cloth and a candle holder with old wax in but no candle left there on the table. We asked how much longer the food was going to be as we both had work in the morning and it turned upafter 60 minutes and I wish we’d have left 20 minutes earlier when we’d thought of doing so. When it came it was a shock to see the £27 sirloin steak. Over priced and average at best. We had to ask the waitress ‘can you please take all these dirty glasses while we eat?’ The meal was already ruined and our evening out spoiled not by the food but by the shoddy way we were treated from start to finish. Even the lemon had to be sent back! No juice, fell away from the skin into mush so god knows how long that’d been there. Apparently she needed to tell the chef but brought back more of the same. We had to quibble the bill afterwards as the pint of flat cola syrup sent back was still on there. The manageress or whatever her job title is should be embarrassed at how customers are treated but unfortunately it was obvious she didn’t care and no apology given and she treated us exactly the same. If o was on my own I wouldn’t have paid so they’re lucky we did. It was one thing after another. We came home feeling like we’d been taken advantage of and I wish I’d said more at the time. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, I chalk it up to experience and move on so you can imagine how bad it was. If you like fawlty towers you may enjoy this farce but we’ll put this down to one place we’ll never go back to and will NEVER recommend. Joke of a place. What a shame."
