"10 minutes passed before the reservation time displayed on our table. The lady in charge claimed she was busy after taking another order, but she did not come back for 25 minutes. Eventually, I had to go to the reception to ask for our order to be taken. Her response was "I just arrived." When I mentioned we had been waiting for 25 minutes, she did not apologize. Instead, she said we had arrived before our reservation. This excuse did not sit well with me, especially since there were only eight other patrons in the restaurant and most of them had not even placed their orders yet. This experience left a bad impression on us, so I opted for a cheaper option (soup for £7.50) instead of the sea bass priced at £21. The food arrived promptly, ironically faster than it took for our order to be taken. My soup was mediocre (5/10), but my son's mother enjoyed her sea bass (7/10) and my daughter's pizza was decent (6/10). Overall, the average food coupled with poor service means I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning."

Phenomenal meal! We had the slow beef with truffle chips and it was to die for. The service was great and very welcoming in the bar with our spaniel. Highly recommend

What a fantastic dining experience! We arrived just before closing time, but were still warmly welcomed, and our hot meal was served quickly. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day and were pleasantly surprised once again by the variety of specialties and the quality of our meal. Highly recommended! The risotto served to me was so delicious that I wish I could hug the chef.

We wanted to meet and have lunch with two friends we don't often see. The entire experience was exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We enjoyed some beers, which went down very easily. The atmosphere was not loud or overwhelming, but rather relaxed and pleasant. Overall, we had a very enjoyable lunch and would gladly return in the future.

Haven’t been for a while but booked Sunday lunch with the kids and friends. Very disappointing quality of food and service. 45 mins from starter to main course. Overcooked lamb. Yorkshire puddings tasted like cardboard obviously cooked at 12 o clock but not served...till 3. Raw broccoli. Vegetarian ‘roast’ was 2 portobello mushrooms. Very disappointing considering they used to have a good vegetarian menu previously. No ‘check in’ half way through to see how the food was.

Our child was sick and we had to go home, and cut our holiday short. In the midst of a fairly poorly (and contagious) child, and a 2 hour drive, we forgot to cancel our booking. We were still charged £20 for a no show...despite explaining our situation to the pub. I understand the pub lost out, (although im sure they could have gave the table away) but a bit of compassion would have been appreciated. Maybe use this as a heads up if you are booking a table with young children when life isnt always predictable. The pub did only fine us for the 2 adults and not the 1 year old and 3 year old, every cloud.

Visited here with my mum mid week. It was quite busy so advisable to book. We both had the fish and chips, the fish was haddock and very tasty with a good batter. The homemade tartar sauce was delicious, but the curry sauce was a...little on the watery side and lacked flavour. The staff were very friendly but lacking in knowledge regarding the menu. Sticky toffee pudding for desert was very good and a generous portion. The Charlie's chocolate pot was good but the Chantly cream repeated on you for some time afterwards. The cows opposite the pub kept us entertained throughout dinner. The 6 or 7 ants around and on our table not much so. However we would return if in the area.

we really enjoyed a meal here, the menu on the website sounded great with the use of high quality local ingredients. unfortunately it did not meet expectations. the restaurant area is tired and has no ambiente, it needs a rebuild. the photos of the website show only the bar area (which is beautiful). service was friendly but slow. if a main course costs £21 I expect 'wow, that was nice 't's ok'. my venison had an aqueous puddle around her, not a hearty jus. the meat court of my partner was hard. the wine cost almost 30 pounds and was the worst quality we ever had in a restaurant. I don't like to give bad reviews, but I think it's important to be honest, and this was our most disappointing me...

Surprisingly quiet when we arrived for Easter Sunday and I'm not sure whether this was because of lack of demand or a result of covid. Nonetheless it probably made for a better experience because the service overall was very good in what we all know...are challenging times for the hospitality industry. The main restaurant area is well lit and with a modern decor with tables spaced appropriately. There is also a separate private room adjoining this area for larger groups. We thought the menu was a bit tight on choices with only 4-5 options per course. However the quality of the food was excellent. My braised lamb just melted in the mouth and I know the roast pork and beef options were equally...
