"The manager claimed that the restaurant is under new management and no longer is on the fork showed him my booking to which he said no he couldnt honour it . The 30% discount I was there so stayed anyway Service was mayhem and very very slow and wrong dishes going everywhere some diners got there dishes but had issues a Caesar salad that had no chicken in it My partner got given the wrong fish dish and the manager tirelessly tried to convince us somehow it was what the menu said although it looked completely different from the other diner who previously was eating what my partner ordered She ate the fish dish which was actually the fish of the day Sea Bream I spoke to a lovely chap called Sam who I saw was serving the original dish my partner was after Sea Bass ???????? who then after a little bit of a convo got us the correct dish my partner was obviously full by then so we got it take away I thought this Sam knows his job whereas the owner hasnt a clue what the menu dishes are or look like or what deals his establishment is offering like The Fork offer of 30% Sam the MAN however corrected all my issues supplying the correct dish eventually removing the service charge and applying the 30% discount and all in a very polite courteous professional manner What a diamond of a bloke Employee of the year and well overdue a pay rise and promotion. The GLUE of the Monarch The clientele could do with sorting out as there were quite a few undesirables just coming in sitting down Hoods up and face masks youths Just there presence ruined the atmosphere if you were a family diner or out with your partner like I was This place is not for the faint hearted My partners stomach was giving her trouble very shortly after her meal of Sea Bream and I had tasted it and I said to her in my opinion I think it was undercooked translucent parts were present another 4/5 minutes on the grill was needed BEWARE !! I defo wouldnt return there sober Id only go back there with a bunch of leery blokes at the end of drink fuelled night if nowhere else was open and Id only get the fish and chips Second thoughts I wouldnt bother at all better to go hungry and cross over the road from this place Starters were mean and small Mains was less than mediocre if you got what you ordered eventually. Didnt dare ask for dessert -had enough by then plus the local riff raff were taking refuge in the outside seating area but not purchasing anything just loitering or linking other riffraff A no go again zone SAM leave and youll find a good job in a Michelin starred establishment as you have the qualities You wasting your life away there jump ship immediately From a very very very very disappointed never to be seen there again diner victim of very bad service and generally **** food ."

we found the restaurant with this app. the food was great, but the fact that we were told that they did not make the offer anymore, but would make a take, as we had already booked, was the most embarrassing.

Service started a bit slow,but got better and the food was of a high standard and very well presented and tasty, Service got much better, l think they were a bit busy at first, lights could be a bit lower, and it was a bit cold when the front door opened But l will Definitely go again

A very nice restaurant, right on the Brighton seafront. We sat outside under a very pleasant awning, not in the direct sunshine. The service was a bit slow but the waiters were very friendly and helpful. I ordered sea bream and it was a full fish with head and tail, a waiter kindly de boned it for me. Six of us and the food and wine were great.

the first impression (small blonde young lady) was very good. very friendly service, but we were asked to order 3 different paints of 3 different people. we ordered a starter and head, but our head came first and our starter went on another table. the white wine was placed on our table, unopened, and no one was offered to taste. this place is good for cocktails, but do not go for good eating.
