"Service from the person who claimed to be in charge verged on sullen. My mother’s meal was lukewarm and the ‘hand cut’ chips looked burnt. When she went to pay she asked to speak to the manager and the server said they were in charge. My mum made her complaint and was told ‘I asked you if everything was alright and you said yes’ however my mum hadn’t heard the question and the server didn’t actually wait to hear the answer. The thing is mum was treating my cousin and me on the anniversary of a very sad occasion so we were all a bit distracted. My food was ok, but nothing special the old menu was much better but because of the occasion I didn’t say anything to upset mum. To add insult to injury we’ve just spotted that my mum was charged £2 for a glass of tap water. Not impressed and it will be a long time before we’re back unless Angie’s in charge."

Party of ten plus small children easily and cheerfully accommodated for a family meal. A wide variety of choices were made from the menu and all were excellent. The quality of the food , value and service were all top-drawer. The food was obviously freshly prepared and the menu was a cut above the usual pub fare. View menu

Excellent pub/Restaurant Appointment at local Jubilee Hospital. Very disappointed at food at the Conf Hotel nearby. Found this gem. Food home made and first class. Not expensive. Good pub food menu. Nice atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. Wife had 2 crutches. Would highly recommend this pub/restaurant. Thanks to staff.

Lovely menu plenty to choose from. Husband opted for steak and myself for chicken stroganoff . Both cooked to perfection and served piping hot and very tasty . Pleasant staff( who did check in to check food to our satisfaction and nicely furnished surroundings . Food very reasonably priced too. Enjoyed our visit . We will return.

Had hoped to dine in the conservatory but it’s not in use on weekdays. Service pleasant and prompt. Soup was delicious. Main courses weren’t great. Steak pie gravy almost black with possibly thyme added which didn’t complement. Nice proper dairy ice cream to finish. It was a convenient rendezvous point , but not one I would rush to return to. Ate there for a birthday meal with family, food was delicious. Steak, gammon, pasta, macaroni cheese,, fresh homemade chicken nuggets for the little one, starters, cocktails for the birthday girl. Whisky sauce was amazing with the steak. Nobody left a thing. Angie our waitress was lovely. They all were. Great experience, lovely atmosphere. Will defo be back .

Quite disappointed with our meal tonight. We used to visit regularly but haven’t been in a while. Sadly we felt it has gone downhill a little. Both had steak pie, mash and veg. The mash certainly wasn’t creamy as noted on the menu. Rather it was an oval blob of lukewarm mash. I know I could have sent it back but it was a bit dry and tasteless so I knew I wouldn’t eat it anyway. The veg was standard frozen peas, sweetcorn and carrot. The steak pie was quite tasty but some of the meat was a bit fatty. The pastry was lovely though! The chocolate fudge cake was nice but could have done without the white chocolate drizzle which made it overly sweet! Still managed to eat it though!

"live before place and always used to go. was impressed twice recently and both males less than by service. the first time with two friends to lunch and we came and stood under the sign for about 10 minutes, which said to wait to sit. After we were not recognized, we chose our own table and set ourselves. we had to approach 15 minutes, we were just going. as usual, eating was great, which always seems easy to make for the service and convince us to give them another try. in the next week with another group of friends returned to dinner, I said to them, I wasn't thinking about as service was recently bad, but we couldn't get a reservation elsewhere and the others wanted to go here. When I arrived a few minutes after the rest, my friend said to me, she thinks they should have listened to me when the girl she was sitting was really rude. for the first half of our night was the girl that was with us, quite short, and I would say a bit of a bad attitude, very crisp. once smiled, barely looked up and almost bark asking about orders to us. After they left at a point table, we talked to each other, we should ask to speak to a manager, as you were terrible. whether she had overheard us or just had a heart change, it was like at night and day from then. so smiling and chatting and bending back to give good service. because they mask up and his hard to see faces I was really asking it was another girl who had taken over, but I'm 99 sure it was the same girl just a fresh job. as mentioned above, eating is always done very well to the kitchen staff. it's a shame that the service is just what he was earlier and out discussions with others I am definitiw not the only person who thinks that. lorimers has a real opportunity, as I think that the opposite has no good restaurants, so it's a shame that they let themselves down when I'm so often I would try differently before I book here."
