"Having decided to take our 1st few tentative steps back into the real world post lockdown we booked a last minute weekend break to symonds yat (stayed at the old court hotel which was a great bargain). I literally just googled somewhere for dinner and saw glewstone Hotel was just down the road so we took a punt and booked a table.I have to say they exceeded expectations. The service was exemplary. Could not find a fault, they were attentive and swift but not overbearing. Food was great. Couple of things if we were being super picky for the price (starter slightly overcooked) but all forgiven because it was only their second night open post lockdown and they were still trialling the new regime. All in all we had a great night, we felt very well looked after, completely safe and the ambience was great. Well done to the staff who really were excellent."

Great to be back here post lockdown. Relaxed, professional and friendly as ever. Tasty, fresh food in comfy welcoming surroundings. A lovely way to catch up with family and enjoy a meal out.

The chef is clearly very talented, the food is incredible and they went out of their way to cater for dietary needs. Service is also brilliant, very friendly and attentive staff. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and music, highly recommend!

Lovely setting and building though Covid precautions a little lax. We ordered starters for lunch and depending on the quality and quantity decided whether to have mains. It took 45 minutes for the starter to arrive and though the presentation was quite pleasant but the food was poor and bland, my wife had a tasteless fishcake with a cold poached egg and I had Guineau fowl breast hopelessly overcooked.

Excellent. A good, if not extensive, menu with imaginative mixes of flavours. Everything well cooked and nicely presented. Very nice to see a chef who cooks beef to a good pink level. Good sized portions, which is nice. Just watch out for very hot gravy boats we had to us knife and fork to turn them over as to hot to handle. Good efficient and friendly staff. Excellent, well priced wine list (try the Elysian Black Muscat dessert wine it’s lovely).

From the moment we walked in we were warmly greeted by Sam the Manager. The bar area was inviting and cosy which was much needed on a cold wet night. After aperitifs we went through to the dining room with an ambience that mirrored that of the bar. The menu had a great range of dishes. Wine list was extensive. Service continued to be exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious for each and every course. After dining, we went through to the lounge area where we relaxed in leather wingbacks by the roaring fire to have a nightcap. Hidden gem only a couple of miles from home. Faultless evening. We will definitely be back

What a fantastic experience. I have tried many establishments around the area and this one is leaps and bounds above anything for miles. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly from the moment I walked in. The most difficult task was choosing from the fascinating and variant menu. After much pondering I opted for the Camembert to start followed by the chateaubriand for the main course. Both cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The chateaubriand was the best I’ve ever had and was cooked just the way I asked for it to be which was medium rare. All in all it was a 5 star experience I look forward to returning soon to sample there ever changing local seasonal menu.

Went for an evening meal in a group. The hotel is lovely and the staff were efficient and courteous. The food however was truly disappointing . Whilst everything was well presented, the portions were small and hugely lacking in terms of flavour. The seafood ravioli was a single piece of ravioli floating in a tasteless clear broth with a piece of bok Choi and rock hard broad beans. Inedible. The main was one mini stalk of asparagus about two inches long, a tiny piece of broccoli, one shaped potato, one mini carrot and a boiled? chicken breast with a small jug of a light green watery substance maybe a bit of the vegetable water?Horribly expensive and very poor value for money. Couldn’t recomme...

We visited Glewstone Court with some friends who are in a Covid 'high-risk ' category and so were understandably nervous. We noticed that the venue is AA Covid accredited and the standards and procedures in place completely underpinned this. We heard that the new Chef was excellent and yet the meal still exceeded our expectations. The scallop ceviche was sublime and superbly complemented by the jalapeno sorbet. My wife and I shared a Chateaubriand, possibly the best I have ever tasted, perfectly cooked. Usually I do not order dessert but the first two courses were so good I opted for the cheesecake which rounded off a perfect meal and I speak for all four of us. Service from Sam and his team...
