"£9.50 for a rubbery beef and horseradish sandwich , basically taken out of the cold counter display and slapped on a plate still in its wrapper with no garnish etc . Leek and potato Soup £6.50 tasted as though it was made from a packet with no sign of any real vegetables in it , very watery and tasteless . Shocking for a place like this . Could be so much nicer and we won’t be eating here again ."

Great service and an excellent cake selection. The triple layer Victoria sponge was delicious. Wonderful hot chocolate too.

Part of the Snape Maltings complex, this Tea Room serves a very good cream tea, with real leaf tee in the pots.. There are benches outside as well as well scrubbed tables inside.

Last time we had tea at the Maltings we went to the upstairs tea room and weren't very impressed but this time we had morning coffee at the Granary and like it so much we returned for lunch. View menu

We visited as a family of four. Good menu choices for all ages. Polite , friendly and efficient counter service. Plenty of seating inside and out. Quality and portion size of food was excellent. Highly recommended.

My wife and I enjoyed a great breakfast fresh bacon sandwich, coffee, tea in a lovely tea room. The service was excellent and the food was freshly prepared. It was also good value. Just lovely. We will return with family. Well worth a visit.

Had tea,coffee,2 slices of cake. came to £9.50. Not much choice on cake,we both had the ginger cake,it was a tad dry. Staff friendly enough but not chatty. Soup £4.00 with a roll its £5.50 so your roll is expensive. But thumbs up for being super clean. View menu

staff were pleasant but the coffee machine was very noisy and interrupted everyone's conversations every time it was used, so not as relaxing as expected. We had lunch with a nicely served cuppa with a generous teapot full. However, we were both disappointed with the cakes, were under average in flavour, and the sticky toffee cake thing was not very nice

My wife and I have visited this café at Snape Malting, Suffolk on many occasions. It is good for a drink, snack, lunch, or afternoon tea. I particularly appreciate that they always have a choice when you ask if there's any gluten free cake. I can especially recommend the gluten free rich fruit cake. But they have to keep it chilled, so it won't be out on the counter so just ask.

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
