Not the greatest restaurants in France but they serve a valuable purpose for the weary traveller, especially on Sunday evenings and Mondays. Plenty of tourists bit also a substantial number of French happily eating out. Probably better in Bayeux proper but also a number of places not better but more pricey View menu

SMALLEST rumsteck EVER for 22€!! See the photos. My fiancée asked for the salmon and it came out burnt for another’s 22€ and she asked for medium, not well done (not burn also!! . Did our bill twice wrong, 1st did not use the discount we had from the hotel, 2nd charged us for drinks and dessert included in the price. Go here only if you are almost dying from hunger!! Better go to McDonald’s.

It’s hard to find gluten free options for dinner in France, but Courtepaille is a large chain (similar to Harvester in the UK) with allergy folder and information to hand. It’s good to know that for allergies and intolerances, they have a lot of locations. I had a delicious chicken skewer and chips meal. However, they can be noisy and with families- there were kids next to us playing ridiculously loud phone videos for the whole time! but that also means you can take your kids there without stress.

We were staying at the hotel next door. After a day of sightseeing it was very convenient to just walk over for dinner. We found the food comforting and satisfying and the service very warm, especially the kind lady with the short gray hair, the very handsome young man who served us our second dinner, and the cheerful young lady who always gave us our check with dessert. Sometimes the grilled plates came unsalted but we weren't sure if that was deliberate or not; we added salt ourselves. The marinated pork ribs and the half roast chicken were particularly enjoyable, as was the grilled fruits on pastry. The steak was a little tough and the salmon portion kind of small.
