"we haven't been here for years and decided to treat something special than usual. the service was fab and the food was great that I had planned on a cake, even had already decided that I would have one regardless of the filling of the day. but it had defended Sellie as a principal ingredient, I went for the wellington! it was an expensive court, but when it arrived, there were two good discs. the baked was crispy and the meat pink, perfect our other porn was the hut cake that had been smeared up to a real restaurant dish. tasty! as the portions were generous, we shared one dessert. the baked alaska was down hands, one of the best I've ever eaten. the portion size was quite large, so it was ideal to divide, it had a bit of everything. pistachio cake, crushed meningue, ice and finely diceed fruits. it was a good opportunity to finish a nice meal if I had to look for a mistake somewhere, the Raviolo starter might have been hotter. but the surprising igelb hidden inside for it made great place when they feel how to treat themselves"

Love the ambiance hear, candles lit on all tables. Very good service especially by young man welcoming customers. Fish was very good but chips a bit chunky for me. Pie also excellent if a bit on the small side. Good choice of beer. We hope...it's as good when Joules take over

atmospheric century old place hidden a street in front of wyle cop. great venue. fisch n chips excellent. fish was the best quality to be white and flocky. bierbatter was very light and crispy great clobpy chips, even muddy heaps and wetar sauce were delicious. they offer a small part that was more than enough for me. service was excellent.

My wife and I visited for a live gig and had a meal beforehand. The reception was very warm and welcoming and the food choice was great. The meal was of a really high standard (as was those served around us). William was very attentive...along with all the other staff. We were well informed of the gig arrangements (doors open etc) and the whole experience was fabulous. View menu

my friend and I visited shrewsbury yesterday and had lunch in the winter garden this beautiful restaurant. the decoration is amazing. we had the pancake, maic and veg. we both agreed that it was the best cake we ever had. the personal we love, very attentive and funny. we eat there at the next visit every case again, I want to say we try something else, but I know it will be the cake again!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
