"This small cafe is a hidden gem, perfect for meeting up with friends after running Gloucester North and City parkruns. There is ample parking in the nearby carpark for a reasonable £1.30 per hour. The staff at the cafe are welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home. While the food and drinks may be a bit pricey, the quality is top-notch and worth the cost. The full English breakfast, breakfast rolls, and cakes were all delicious and enjoyed by everyone in our group. One member of our party was vegan and wished there were more options for him on the menu. The staff even went out of their way to accommodate our group by asking another customer to move so we could all sit together, for which we were very appreciative."

Fantastic cafe. Absolutely outstanding breakfast. Good vegan/vegetarian options as well as traditional English. We had baked Mexican eggs.

This cafe is fantastic! I stopped by for a Sunday morning cooked breakfast and it was genuinely one of the best I've ever had. My friend had the vegetarian option and also loved it. 10/10, highly recommend!

I have had many visits here, and always the food and service are to a high standard and totally enjoyable. I regularly pop in for take away drinks, and the cakes are always hard to resist! Never disappointed, great team, and love supporting a small local business : View menu

Popped in for a lovely lunch today. All freshly cooked, and very tasty. My son had a breakfast bap which he loved, my husband the vegetarian breakfast which he said he was amazing, all made with great care and great ingredients. Thankyou we look forward to returning.

Absolutely outstanding find tucked away just out of town. We enjoyed a fantastic brunch which was honestly one of the best we’ve had in a long time, very fresh and tasty green smoothies, lovely avocado on sourdough and the winner of brunch the best huevos rancheros ever. Will make this our new brunch choice every time !

I highly recommend checking out the cake selection for only £3 - such a bargain! I always make sure to grab one for my afternoon tea at home. The scrambled egg on toast was priced at £5.50 and was delicious. The hot chocolate, which was made with actual chocolate chips, was the best I've ever had. My daughter was also very pleased with her meal. View menu

Looking for a cooked breakfast, I came across the Hungry Bean. It’s a lovely little cafe with great service and a nice atmosphere. I had the veggie breakfast and felt compelled to write a review because it is the best one I’ve ever had. Really. It was that good. The sausage and hash brown were unusual, there was a selection of roasted vegetables, everything was perfectly cooked and it was incredibly tasty. It’s a bit annoying though, as I live in Bournemouth

Simply the best tasting food at any café in Gloucester, and beyond. The queue was outside the door, and we had to wait for 30 minutes, so we came back. I work in construction, so have eaten at many, many cafes. Sure you can get more food for less at places like The Trojan, which I have great respect for, but it isn't in the same league as this. All the ingredient's they use, are the best. I had the eggs Royale on this occasion, and was better than a few high end places I've eaten at, but also have had many things including the full English on previous visits.

"The Cavern in Gloucester is one of a kind. To a lot of people just passing by it is a very pleasant social cafe with reasonably priced food and non-alcoholic drink. The reality is that The Cavern is so much more than that. This is a place that is non-judgemental and focuses on inclusion for everyone. It has a lot of regular attendees including myself, many of which have mental health issues and/or some form of disability. The staff here (who are absolutely amazing) have a varied and wide understanding of mental health and what makes this place unique is that anyone can attend in the evening to talk to a member of staff about any issues in an informal and discrete way. Whilst staff are available anytime during the day there is a designated support area in the evenings which anyone can make use of. There are also various activities which The Cavern put on including an informal karaoke on a Sunday evening with mixed abilities of singers taking part. You don 't have to be a good singer as you will not be judged, it 's all about taking part. The Cavern has had a couple of bad reviews where it has been pointed out that there has been drug use and anti-social behaviour. Some of which may be true, however please bear in mind that some people who attend The Cavern may have mental health issues and conditions that may not be physically visible. The Cavern does not judge and is open to everyone. If The Cavern wasn 't so inclusive, then where would these people go? On the streets being Antisocial ? Getting involved in criminal activity? The safe space that The Cavern provides encourages people to attend and seek advice and support from a friendly staff team as well as other regular attendees who feel that The Cavern has a real family feel to it. Drug use is strictly prohibited and is challenged immediately. Whilst I accept that The Cavern may not run smoothly 100% of the time, I also know that the staff do everything that they can to support everyone who needs it. They are all very approachable and have the respect of people who feel able to open up to them about their problems and struggles. The Cavern is a safe space for everyone and if it was to ever close then Gloucester would lose a very valuable asset to the city."
