"This was not only the single worst meal I've ever had in Italy (in or so trips), but might be the single worst meal my wife and I have had ANYWHERE. We are not their enemies, just shocked travelers. We went because three guidebooks,...all supposedly independent, raved about this place. The room is beautiful, and the hotel stunning. A good start. The obsequious staff should have been a warning, but that happens sometimes. My wife started off with a cold dish described as a salad with strawberries and mint. One strawberry, cut into four pieces, and mostly spoiled (which if I had known would have been sent back), smothered with can it possibly be?!? Island dressing, or at least the Italian equivalent. This would have been simply bad had the strawberry been edible. My soup was marginally adequate. My wife's second dish was grossly overcooked tuna that might have lain around for a week or so. I made the terrible decision to have veal, which came out as German weinershnitzel. Oh my goodness! The obsequious waiter asked us how the meal was and I said in a condescending voice, abastanza bene certainly no compliment. I should have said Horribile and Non voglio pagare but I was still in shock. BTW, the coup de grace was that their credit card line wasn't working. So instead of making us comfortable at the table, they marched me into the manager's office so he could explain. Shouldn't he have come to me? The only other diners were British travelers who didn't have full menu access. They were laughing and having fun and may not have noticed how bad things were. My wife was convinced that the restaurant crew was laughing at us, and afterwards, I had to agree. Thank goodness I at least told them the food was mediocre. But mediocre was a gross compliment given what we had. Minus stars."

The view is splendid. And the wine list is ok. But in most restaurants in Sicily you will eat better. After one week on the island it was the first real disappointment.

we have gone august. it was undoubtedly the best restaurant we had in Sicily. the food was absolutely delicious and refined. the presentation was breathtaking. special mention of the chocolate globe desserts. and above all the service was absolutely perfect. we were...with very good advice and all went very smoothly. thank you! unnecessary to say that we did not understand the bad review on this website. we definitely recommend it!

Most: the position and building/decoration of the restaurant was excellent. The view over the lit-up temple ruins was spectacular, especially through binoculars! The antipasti, including the Camponata, were excellent. The recommended wine was correct and the service was good and friendly. Least: The mixed fish...grilled was unexpected and not good. This consisted of very large sections (tentacles) of tasteless octopus and a small flat fish which was very overcooked. So not a good choice!

Three weeks in Sicily and everything has been way beyond expectations. But.... this restaurant was our only truly bad experience. The setting could be great but the intense interior lighting obfuscated the view of the temple valley. The food was worse than lackluster. The maitre...d' was rude. And said that the wine we ordered was not available and produced an inferior, none local wine and at the end over charged. We did not stay for dessert. Apparently this place has lost its chef. Worst experience in Sicily.

we had dinner there as we were in the hotel (baglio della luna) and only after that we looked at the other reviews. I have to say I really can't understand the bad reviews. the personal was really helpful, it might have helped us... speak Italian, but I wouldn't think that. if they know something about Sicilian food, they will quickly find that this is high quality. all ingredients were fresh, caponata, fave, cicoria, octopus and squid were all delicious. dessert (gelato torta lemon cake and cannoli) were incredible. all with the beautiful view over the garden of the hotel and the valley of the tempel, which is magical in the evening.

I can't understand how this restaurant rates below McDonald's on Tripadvisor. Yes, there are some flaws, but for the most part we had two excellent meals there. The most successful dishes included ravioli stuffed with swordfish, fettuccine with fresh cherry tomatoesw and bottarga, a marinated...seafood antipasto, and lamb chops prepared just the way my Sicilian grandmother did with lemon and olive oil according to my wife. Side dishes such as caponata and fava beans with chicory were also excellent. Less successful were a seafood frito misto, which was good except for the calamari, which was seriously overcooked and therefore rubbery and which had lost most of its crispy coating, and also a...

we ate here on Easter Monday together with a full dining room (we stayed in the hotel and it was also full tonight, Tuesday, although we ate somewhere else tonight for a change). all six of my party (including two children) enjoyed their meal here last night. children shared spargel risotto and the fish speciality I tried both dishes and they were delicious. I had the bark with kartoffel and it was also excellent. husband and father in law had also the fish special and my mother in law had a pasta with brokkoli that I loved. we all saw others dinge on the menu we wanted to try to eat tomorrow. server are professional and friendly, especially for my children, and I am shocked by the previous...
