"Jan Von Werth is a tavern we've been to on previous visits to Cologne, always had a great time and so it proved on our latest visit. I look of this tavern, the interior is awesome, a light and airy interior, a solid wood serving bar,...wonderful decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern, its a great tavern to chill out in and enjoy hearty German cuisine and great beers. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Friday early afternoon, we got a table were a passing Köbe deposited two Fruh Kölsch beers on our table and as is the norm in this part of Germany marked our beer mat with two pencil ticks, we just chilled out and took in the great tavern we were in. I really enjoy Fruh Kölsch beer, it's a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink,a beer style both myself and my twin brother Stephen really enjoy. On this visit I cannot really comment on the meals as we were here only for beers but I have ate here on numerous occasions over the years and the meals are just superb, hearty German cuisine tasty and filling. We really enjoyed our beers in here and the great vibe so much so that we ended up staying for another beer each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Jan Von Werth is easy to locate along Christophstraße. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, till Saturday, till Sunday, Closed. Well worth checking out if your in the area"

Decent food and decent Kölsch. Nothing more, nothing less. They could clean the tables inbetween the visitors but I still liked it there

Fantastically German bar in the centre of the city. Really great interior and ambience, friendly staff, amazing Kolsch, they even had Champion’s League football on the TV. Can recommend the schnitzel. All fantastically wellpriced View menu

This restaurant was at the end of the road where our hotel was. A great find. Reasonably priced food and drink and great service too. The food was delicious and lots of it. The beer was good and cheap and the apple strudel was divine

Very surprised by how good the food was. A lady at our hotel recommended it for “local “ food. I am usually wary of hotel recommendations, but it was worth a visit. We both had pork dishes that were good. Service was friendly and they...had an English menu

Typical german brauerei, where you get also local german food. It is not fine food, nothing for those who want light meals, but sometimes it is good. The service is excellent. The restaurant is not in the best area of the town but if you...happen to be there, try it. I was all the week in Cologne and went in several nongerman restaurants, but this was certainly the best choice View menu

We held a wedding rehearsal dinner at Jan von Werth JVW in July Many of the attendees were international guests so we wanted to have a traditional, German dinner near the city center and our new flat. JVW has a private, party room that...can seat up to people which was a big plus. The food was very good. We had a fixed menu where guests could choose from schnitzel, pork knuckle, salad with prawns, or potato pancakes. Prior to selecting JVW, we came to the restaurant to try each item and were pleased the quality during the rehearsal dinner was the same. In addition, JVW was kind enough to print out menus in English and German for this special occasion. The ownermanager Max was very friendly a...

"In a 5-day stay in Cologne and as a lover of Indian cuisine, we had planned the Ginti. The visit took place on Monday to the beginning of noon. The reception was very friendly and cordial by the Lord of the House. The decor in Ginti is very modern, stylish, but also somewhat sterile and only very discreet supplements with Indian accessories. Young guests will probably find favors in the style of the institution. The place was still empty and so there was a chance to get a brief conversation with the mistress of the house. She brought us the menus, and there were Papadam with three from a culinary point of view pretty boring finished dives. We chose both a mango sauce as a drink that was thin and most likely prepared on the basis of a mango powder. Disgusting! I ordered as main dish Malai Kofta, vegetable balls in a mild curry sauce with ginger, garlic, almonds and coconut. This is not only one of my favorite Indian dishes, but it is also a dish that places higher requirements on a kitchen and therefore cannot be found in any Indian restaurant on the menu. In addition, quality and freshness can be well valued with this bowl. I ordered this dish with a higher sharpness, but not through the sauce, but ultimately through the vegetable balls themselves. The latter were produced excellently and their loose inner composition had the freshness of the preparation felt. This was undoubtedly a 5-star court. My accompaniment had opted for Tandoori King Prawn Masala, marinated royal cloves from Tandoor in a sauce with tomatoes, cashew nuts and raisins. This dish was also very tasty, rather mild and very generous in the number of shrimps. The rice was served unfavorably on an open bowl and had to measure any fragrance and aroma that could originate from cardamom capsules or spice cloves. After the main dishes were convinced, we were curious about the Indian ice cream, Kulfi. This came visually well over a carrot cut into slices, but could not be along tasteful. It was crystallized, little creamy and the aromas of the aforementioned mango powder were reappeared. Conclusion: a highly recommended Indian restaurant due to the excellent main dishes, but not yet matured in its culinary periphery. Therefore, provisionally three stars with an inclination to four."
