"Our first experience at this restaurant was outstanding and we will definitely be returning. We were lucky to secure a spot for lunch on Friday last minute, as reservations are typically made weeks in advance. The restaurant is cozy, with tables spaced out nicely. The table settings were elegant, with crisp white linens and a delicate flower centerpiece. The amuse bouche, a Thai coconut soup, was perfectly seasoned and could have easily been a starter. The starters were exceptional and surpassed the soup in flavor. Both my wife and I opted for the duck as our main course, which was delicious and beautifully presented. The highlight of the meal was the dessert - a blackcurrant pane cotta with baked apple rings and apple yoghurt ice cream that was simply divine. The meal was completed with coffee and petit fours, a lovely touch that made the experience even more memorable. Although we did not have any wine, the extensive and reasonably priced wine list is worth exploring. I highly recommend this restaurant and advise booking well in advance, as it is truly worth the effort."

This restaurant has always had a good reputation and it is well deserved. Great food friendly service and reasonable value for the quality of food on offer.

Amazing food. Amazing restaurant. Big likes are no music (so rare these days), no rush (also rare these days), no pressure lots of time for conversation and digestation, value for money, fresh after meal coffee included (again a rare thing) and beautifully prepared food. Highly recommended.

La Potiniére is a small restaurant with a big personality. It surpasses the trendy new spots and celebrity chefs with its unique charm and incredible food. Keith Marley and Mary Runciman have crafted a beautiful dining experience, where every detail is meticulously planned and executed. Customers are drawn back time and time again by the exquisite dishes and exceptional service. La Potiniére is truly a special place created by special people.

4 of us booked in for a special dinner. From start to finish it was a lovely evening. We were greeted by a very pleasant and professional waitress whose name I didn't get and Keith who, as always, was so welcoming. Mary's food was amazing and the service excellent- all such good value and fresh and of a very high standard. The wines are well priced and with a good selection. Definitely a must if you are visiting East Lothian- but be sure to book as they are small and popular!

I ate here a few times over half a lifetime ago and although different to the previous incarnation, we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and experience. Solid food monkfish and lamb rack both excellent, lovely tarts, tasty desserts and good old fashioned service from Keith, washed down with a couple of cracking bottles of Palliser Pinot Noir. Quaint and unique, it was lovely to see an owner operator at work who cares about his customers far more so than the operator across the road, delivering a far better product and meeting expectations!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed it!!! , Thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

We had to wait outside until just before 12.30 when they open for lunch. Having been sat at the wrong table first we were soon seated and our friends arrived. The menu gave a good range of freshly prepared and cooked food and they had been careful to check that none of our party had allergies or intolerances when we booked. The food was delicious and we noticed that the wine was a little cheaper than the Bonnie Badger across the road. We enjoyed our meal and managed to hear each other despite a large party who were quite noisy for what is a small space. We will certainly return but booking is essential because it is quite small.

My first visit to La Potiniere for a Sunday afternoon lunch was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious and perfectly seasoned. From the amuse bouche to the homemade bread, the cheese and curried cauliflower soufflé starter, the salmon risotto with perfectly cooked salmon fillet, and the pear pudding, every dish was impeccable. It was more than just a Sunday lunch, it was a dining experience that was definitely worth every penny. We ended our meal with coffee, tea, and petit fours. Keith, the front of house, was attentive and made sure our needs were met before we even had to ask. La Potiniere is a wonderful place to dine and we will definitely be returning...

Had high hopes of an enjoyable gourmet evening , considering the number of excellent reviews ,but left disappointed. As described succinctly by Peter E (January 2022, we found the welcome somewhat lukewarm and the place lacked atmosphere. Little engagement from the maitre d,who I think was one of the owners.Expected service to be slow but waiting 45 minutes for bread at the start seemed excessive. Overall the food was of a high standard except for my main course of steamed sole which was rather mushy and lacked flavour . Noticing a sizeable piece left on my plate I was asked if I hadn’t enjoyed it. I said it wasn’t to my taste and no further enquiry for more detail was made then or at the en...
