"We would probably have passed this by if it was not recommended by the owner of our guest house. It could do with a bit of a spruce up but the food is very good and we enjoyed our meal here. Between the two of...us we had duck with pancakes, won ton soup, crab and sweetcorn soup, sizzling black bean beef and salmon with ginger and spring onion. The main courses were served with rice and noodles and prawn crackers were given to us before the duck arrived. Everything was tasty, well cooked and hot. The salmon was chunky pieces of fillet lightly battered, not something we have had before. We visited on a Sunday evening which is useful as the choice of eating places in Hawick is limited.then. It does take away meals and does seem to be popular with the locals."

Very tasty food, but lacking atmosphere and character! I would highly recommend the mixed special curry!

went here for a meal with a few friends, did not have to book and was easy to sit down to a table, the service was nice, the young girls were well spoken, polite and very attentive, eating was good and seemed fresh, but the decor could do with a spooky up as it was a little dated.

I recently visited the Laughing Buddha on the weekend visiting family. The food was of a high standard and the young waitresses were very polite, friendly and attentive. Great service and enjoyed my meal. However, the decor is extremely outdated and tired, and the carpet...through the restaurant was very dirty. Not sure if I will return as although the service and food were great, the dirty carpet and wobbling tables/chairs were extremely off putting.

we have loved to come here for many years, often travel miles for what I think is the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. the place is very inconvenient, and this is the charm that only has been added to the experience, since it is the food that takes the stage. All that we have eaten is freshly cooked, the service is good, and I can honestly say that it is always worth traveling to eat here, we were here as couple and as large family group, but nothing is too much annoyed, even if we are not!

The purpose of this review is to highlight the dreadful service.the food, as always was fantastic. We eat here occasionally, more often would get a take away. Last night we popped in about 8pm. There were 3 young local Hawick girls who were not interested...in doing their jobs. The stood around the counter chatting and on their phones. Had to ask for drinks. On one occasion the bell from the kitchen rang 3 times before one of them went for food. One of them seemed to do all the work, the other 2 seemed to take pleasure in bossing her around. I had to tell them to clear the starter plates when the main were brought.. Please please get decent waiting staff!
