lovely little stop quite busy but fantastic food warm welcome , friendly place. it looks lovely inside and out i highly recommend

Great bar, chatty staff and happy hour! decent range of drinks and TV's with relevant stuff. Saw families as well as friends which is great!

Overpriced cheap place exploiting its prime location. Rude service. Broken glass and soda’s cups on the floor at am. Just cross the street and avoid this.

There are plenty of places to eat in Châtel and we chose Le Genepi. The service was friendly and quick, my burger la ranch was absolutely covered in barbecue sauce and the bacon was a couple of pieces of ham, not good! My wife had...tartichevre which was ok. Will not rush back

Whilst there is a warm and jovial atmosphere here, this is let down by the quality of the food. The lasagne was cold in the middle and the bread served had already been half eaten by a previous table. Two compensatory shots at the end...of the meal were welcome but we won’t be rushing back.

This restaurant advertises on the door with “crêperie/restaurant” (pancakes/restaurant), however when we came in (party of and wanted to order pancakes, we were told that they don’t serve pancakes after lunch time, which was a bit of a disappointment and very unlogical for a...place that calls itself a crêperie. Once we made another choice, service was really quick, staff was friendly and the food was nice. Little point of improvement: serving the kids before the parents is a good idea, but then make sure that all the kids receive their meal at the same time.

We spend a fair amount of time in Châtel both summer and winter and I think this place is great and am bemused by some of the poor reviews. The Genepi does not set out to offer fine dining (try the Vieux Four for that)...but what it does, it does really well. A selection of classic French dishes e.g. Duck foie gras and frogs legs but also delicious burgers and pizzas, really excellent crêpes both savoury and sweet, plus a varying selection of specials. Service is great, really fast and friendly, and English speaking if you need it. As good for a late morning coffee and crêpe as it is for a family meal in the evening.

We've had dinner here two times during our stay in Chatel and decided to go with French specialties: Fondue and Raclette while a friend had burger both times. The food was served very fast which was a really nice surprise. I can't say if these...specialties were better or worse comparing to other places but we really liked them. According to a friend, it was one of the best burgers he had (maybe that's the reason for a high price). We never made it to the desserts, so I can't say too much there. The staff is very polite, responsive and speaks English good enough. I also liked that they managed to deal with my name for the reservation and I know it is a difficult one to handle for French peop...

I never write negative reviews but this place deserves one. During our meal, we were abruptly moved from a double to a single table so more customers could be squeezed in despite already being fairly squashed up in the corner. We were only having crepes...and drinks but at no point did they say this would be a problem. I sat on the table with the new customers as there was no room for me with my two sons. One of my sons, who quite clearly had a broken arm in a cast, had the table pushed into him in their haste to squash more money into the restaurant. The food was mediocre and expensive and the service was delivered in a bored manner with no pleasant atmosphere about the place. First world p...
