"We had been to the dreaded Haribo Mueseum, and were looking for something less plastic for lunch. It was a terrible day, a downpour, and we spotted this place as we came into town. It looks like an old/converted coaching house, with exposed brick, high arches, lots of candles and a lovely feel to the place. There was a menu du jour for €13 with a choice of salads or charcuterie then a veal chop in a provençal sauce with rice and a choice of homemade desserts. The children had pizza, (which I suspect was from the local supermarket, but they didn't proclaim to be an authentic pizza joint). The guy in charge was a bit over stretched and was efficient if not friendly until we spoke some french and then he ramped up several gears !! All in all we were happy and would certainly go back."

Arrived in Avignon on a rainy Sunday evening in spring, after several days of amazing food in Paris.

Avoid this place! Food is tasteless, on top of that they manage to rip people of with water charging $6.50 a bottle.

It was raining so we did not want to be trudging around the streets. In any other country, this would rate "very good", but it is barely average by French standards. Way too much salt. Mediocre frites. Good cheap wine. View menu

We ate at this café for lunch and sat outside at the sidewalk tables. It is a very busy location, but that made things interesting, always something to look at and we watched the world go by! The service was a little slow, but the food was fine with plenty of choice. Worth a visit.

We were tired and it was getting late, nearly the end of lunchtime, and we nearly walked past. We should have. They committed sin #1 in French restaurants: stale bread. It didn't get any better with the rest of the meal. The decor was pleasant, but we saw a lot of other places that looked better, closer to the town centre.

We love the fixed price menu at Le Grill, it's simple food made well, three course lunch from Set A 12€90, a salad, main, desert. We liked the Assiette De Charcuterie (sliced salami)salad, followed by a lasagne, then a Crépe Au Secre. Bread basket.1/2ltr of Vin de table rouge. All in all a cheap and tasty lunch. We like it there. View menu

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch at Le Grill. The food was simple, but tasty. I had a well composed salad with ham, blue cheese and walnuts followed by a gratin of Brandade de Morue. The service was friendly and the staff were accommodating to both us and our dog, finding us a table out of the way and bringing a bowl of water. I would happily eat there again.

We randomly chose this place to have lunch and were impressed with the whole experience. The manager is a nice fella who served us immediately and tried to explain to us in English what was on the menu. Were new to France and have struggled a little with the menus. Im not sure of the correct names for the meals but i'll describe them as well as i can. My wife ordered and omelette style dish with chorizo and salad which was quite light and tasted very good.I ordered a baked cod gratin i think with salad. The bake was cooked perfectly and the salad dressed very well too. If we return to the area we will eat there again. The meal cost 28 euros with a coffee, and 3 soft drinks. Very well priced.

"The best meal I have had in a very long time. Located in a small picturesque village not far from Uzes. From the outside, it looks like a run-down bar-cafe, but the food is incredible! I had the daily special of seiche (cuttlefish) and steamed...potatoes w aioli sauce. The seiche was as tender as salmon steak. The sauce gave a wonderful flavor. Paradise. Served cold (i.e. more or less room temperature) with a nice side salad (and scrumptious tasty bread). Apx euros and worth every centime. The other dishes were euros. My wife and daughter-in-law and her daughter all ordered shrimp in saffron sauce and loved it, Served with great pommes frites (they let me taste). My son ordered veal milanaise( served with an excellent tomato-based sauce and accompanied with al dente pasta. The veal itself was very tasty, which is not always the case these days. After this meal, no room for dessert, but my wife and I could not resist the creme caramel which is unbelievably onctuous and smooth. The others ordered a chocolate fondu cake of some sort, but the creme was so good that I didn't want to dilute the flavor by tasting the cake which they said was intensely chocolaty. In sum, very highly recommended. Food as good as anything I have had in the very elegant St Germain, my previous home. BTW, it was a lovely, cool August evening so we ate outside on a little tree-shaded square surrounded by lovely old stone architecture. If you like that sort of thing, leave time for a stroll around the village. PS -One of the rare occasions to order Jupiler on tap [beer] at a restaurant in this area. Served nice and cold."

"one of our first days in uzès, we were wandering on the main road looking for a good place for lunch. the menu of the providedl drew our attention and the friendly owner on the sidewalk convinced us to try. happy we did. The food was delicious and the service was warm and friendly. it seems to be a family and popular establishment with the inhabitants. Of course, they were also very welcoming to tourists, but I am always happy to find a place that is not a tourist trap. We tried a salad, a slice of charcuterie, fried steaks and cod brandade, which is apparently a specialty of this region. It is a deliciously interesting concoction of potatoes and salted cod, with some parts of chorizo/pepperoni. It seemed a little strange but I'm so glad I tried it. It was absolutely delicious. I noticed that several other restaurants in the city serve him, and some even put him on a pizza. the version to the supplied was beautiful. The steak was also delicious. a note for Americans dining in france for the first time - they tend to serve their beef much more **** than we do in the United States, so if you ask it average, it will look more like medium-saignant. If it makes you disgust, be clear when you order and they will be happy to cook it according to your specifications. We chose rare medium, and it was certainly red inside! and delicious. We skipped dessert but took some good coffee. I would gladly go back and I would gladly recommend it to others."
