"Really nice pub would return if i lived in the area. Visited for a beer and some food with wife and infant daughter, large carpark, is located at the top of the hill, staff and the locals were very welcoming. Nice selection of ales lagers and spirits. Restaurant section looked to be closed, but the lounge was bright and modern finish. Pub menu was served as per the website but they had a nice choice of specials. Had the special starter peri peri chicken samosa with pickled molis, perfect balance of curried samosa, sharp pickled mooli and spicey peri, came with an interesting almost experimental bread and charcoal garlic butter, mmm yummy main was a wholesome hearty gaint yorkshire brimmed with onion gravey and sausages dressed with a herby oil and fries on the side, was perfectly portioned for a big fella like me, may be too much for some, but a brilliant meal. Finished off with a white chocolate raspberry blondie, with a tart raspberry coolis and custard. Wife had the burger was thick and tasty, nicely seasoned. Daughter had a big portion of fish fingers and chips. Table services was efficient and friendly. Locals were nice to talk to aswell. We all left happy and full, would recommend. Parking: Big lot next to the pub would fit about 12 designated drivers Kid-friendliness: Had kids chair available, changing facilities in the disabled, large selection on the kids menu. Friendly staff, welcomed kids as well as adult. "Disappointing experience, a place we wanted to try due to the reviews being so positive. We chose the bottomless brunch and sat in the courtyard. The food was ok but my muffin was rock hard underneath the egg. The head waiter wasn’t particularly helpful and and the younger waiter I found to be a little rude. We were told to wave when ever we wanted a drink but were left outside and forgotten about. There was nobody outside as both waiters stood around and didn’t think to check. The only reason we managed to get any drinks was because the fridge and freezers etc were outside so had to ask repeatedly to have the heater on and for drinks. So not a place either of us would go to or recommend."

"I visited Gurkha Sizzler last night with a friend before heading to a gig. Since I'm not from Huddersfield, I relied on Google reviews to help me choose a restaurant, and I knew we were craving curry! We didn't make a reservation, but the friendly waitress accommodated us without any hassle. I've been to some much fancier Indian restaurants lately, but looks can be misleading; I couldn’t fault the service here, and the food was truly exceptional. I had the Matar Paneer, and my friend ordered the Chicken Biryani, both of which were excellent, along with some ice-cold bottles of Gurkha Lager. I absolutely loved it and would go back in a heartbeat!"

"Menu looked promising. A mixture of traditional pub food and more exotic dishes. The Korean egg starter was tasty and flavoursome. Unfortunately the toasted cheese stack was very stodgy and bland and the scone like base didn't really work for me. The flatbread was huge and filling but would have preferred it wiih a tomato sauce base instead of the sweet onion chutney. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The decor is traditional and clean and lovely views. There is a car park. The music was a bit annoying at times, a mixed play list but some of the songs weren't very relaxing, especially as the clientele were mostly elderly. A nice bar area and dog friendly."

"What has happened to Med One??? We tried to book for a party of 10, we were told over the phone we had to pay a deposit which was absolutely fine BUT we couldn't pay over the phone...we would have to pay cash which meant someone would have to drive into Huddersfield after 5pm when they open in order to pay. Hours have reduced, no daytime hours any more so sadly no lunches at med one. The food was amazing as usual and the waiting staff were lovely. When we went to pay we were met by a very surly man at the bar who told us we couldn't pay individually, someone would have to pay for a party of 10. When we complained he said he would allow us just this once but he wouldn't do it again. (We replied, don't worry, there won't be a next time) He was so rude, no thank you for our business, did you enjoy your meal? Very surly. Med One food is fantastic but they seem to be going out of their way to make things difficult for customers . Such a shame to lose a fantastic restaurant. I know times are hard but come on Med One, let customers know you appreciate them!"
