"For starters, I don’t know why I came to France and wanted to eat soul food... familiarity I guess, but I digress. The chicken and sweet potatoes were too spicy. The chicken was well fried, but the coating had thyme, parsley, and French inspired seasonings. The sweet potatoes mash was full of fibers it should’ve been whipped to remove then) and seasoned with lime and coconut milk. That’s not soul food. It should’ve been seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg, brown/white sugar, clove, and perhaps a splash of lemon. The red beans and rice had bbq sauce in them...again not soul food. The seasoning on the French fries was called Cajun seasoning. It was really good... not spicy although it should’ve been given that they labeled it Cajun. The macaroni and cheese was good in relation to everything else, but not worth 8 euros. The best thing about the restaurant was the 90’s r&b music that was played and the decor which is an ode to African-American entertainment culture. Other than that, I wouldn’t recommend eating here if you have a taste for authentic soul food."

Okay. Breading on the chicken was crumbly like a biscuit. Food was lukewarm. Liked the sweet potato fries a lot.

If you're craving authentic soul food in Paris this is your place to go! Literally the chicken has the right amount of crispy skin and spices, it is so View menu

It's not really an American restaurant and I don't think the cuisine was especially authentic, but the food was hot and tasty and fresh and there was a lot of it. Waiter was pleasant.

Soul Food not really, more like Jamaican food with a twist. We came in and were seated promptly and given our menus. The menu has like 10 plates and an handful of starters, sides and desserts, so a smaller menu. The food was decent, not oh my goodness good. We had the chicken plate and we added on the Mac and Cheese both were ok. Maybe I’m a soul food snob, but it was missing that kick that you get from good soul food.

I was so happy when I found a “soul food” place in Paris, I made sure it was my first stop! The menu is VERY limited, and there were hardly any “soul food” options. The macaroni and cheese.., well I liked the top part, but the bottom had a strong cheese that tasted like funky feet. The chicken was well fried and very tasty! The fish, waffles, and mashed sweet potatoes were average at best. I probably wouldn’t make a second trip though View menu

Mama Jackson is the kind of intimate restaurant where it's good to meet with loved ones around good big, juicy dishes. The map is short and effective. Here we find the standards of soul food: fried chicken, sweet potato fries, mac n cheese... The must is to take a small mix of all this thanks to the Mama plate, as comforting as well as good. I have to admit that this is the kind of place I can only go once a year so it's fat, but when I go it's for the big haha. So I suggest you go to Mama Jackson's place on a beautiful day when you don't care about any diet and forget that summer is coming. Enjoy, you deserve it!

My review is a year old as I actually visited the restaurant September 2018. I went with my wife and another friend and we all enjoyed the food. Since I try out all chicken and waffle meals in every restaurant that serves it, I course ordered it here. The chicken was very tasty and the best I had eaten in all of Europe (eaten in Amsterdam, London, Rome, Barcelona, Naples, Nice and even in Cairo. The waffles were OK, just a little dry but eatable. Not sure if they were cooked too long, but the syrup didn't wake them up enough to match the excellent taste of the chicken. Don't recall what my wife and friend ate, but they loved their meals. The place is small and can probably on accommodate no...
