Disappointed. Very thin poorly cooked steak, total fail

Tasty food and friendly service. Just a bit of pity that the restaurant is only serving hotel guests so I felt a bit too quiet.

I was extremely disappointed with my meal at this restaurant. I ordered the fish and chips, but both were extremely greasy and I couldn't even eat them. It felt like a heavy lump in my stomach. I felt terrible for the rest of the night. Additionally, when we arrived, they couldn't find our reservation even though I had called to double check.

When I booked, I informed them I had gift vouchers. Upon arriving we were led to a table set for afternoon tea. The confusion was at the booking stage and the table had to be rearranged. We had starters, mains and when we were served our desserts, we were told that the next booking for our table had arrived and basically if we wouldn’t mind finishing so the table can be reset for the next group. We have been here on a number of occasions and never been rushed before. Food is as good as ever, pity about the mix up which inevitably took time to reset the table and the time it took for us to eat courses was obviously too long for them!! View menu

Hi, we have eaten in this restaurant many times and always had lovely food and service. However tonight both the food and service were very disappointing. My partner had a starter (duck pot) which was bland and overpriced. I had ordered fillet steak and after an hour from ordering we got our main meals. I had asked for medium steak but as it was rare. I was so hungry I didn't send it back. I only managed to eat half of it. There was no check back and when the waitress collected our plates and I gave feedback it was met with an indifference response. I was disappointed with the food and service. The food was nothing to complain about but it was also nothing to write home about an average food experience for not so average price’s. The whole place was dated, and for a not so busy time service was slow and we felt like even being there we were an inconvenience to some members of staff. The minute we arrived and they found out we were using a voucher , they were rude and abrupt our reservation wasn't even in the booking system which was a little embarrassing! A young girl (we didn't catch her name) we assume she was training was the only person who even seemed to care about our experience. But the more mature members of staff congregated at the welcome desk and didn't look at us twice...

Table reservation not ready on a Sunday at had to wait minutes before we were seated and had to ask if the table was ready (no staff member helped us). The restaurant was dirty and lacked in standards, the bar area was full of used empty glasses and empty bottles of wine (immediately sends the wrong impression). Had to ask for drinks and then to be served. Food was nothing short of shambolic. Look warm soup, hard terrine. Steak was cooked medium to well despite medium rare being requested. Chips were cold.
