"In the Kaufhof there are 10% on items from the new Superman vs Batman movie this week. I can't miss it. So I had the following plan: together with my wife with the Straba to Parade Square, in the department store, via R Square in R3, the following goal should be the Natthanichia, Mannheim's first address for Thai cuisine. Thoughtful, but already when we approached R-Platz, we saw that in R3 in Natthanichia all places were occupied, except a small 2 table right in front of the toilet that had not to be. So? According to Fabrizio, but Fabrizio is no longer available, my wife had the brilliant idea to stay in R3 place and visit the Metropolis. Once we did not feel bad, almost the entire extensive restaurant full of staff. Inside we were offered a still free two table by the very nice operators. Another look at the controls. The boss and the owner probably looked outside. All services had horsetail (the female), dark hair, southern touch, very nice and sympathetic ... ... we browse through the menu that makes a high-quality impression. The cardboard pages are thicker than normal menus, on one side the premium meat is explained. It is used exclusively USA Beef, here excellent in Premium and High Premium, the High Premium are exclusively US Nebraska Steaks. Through the 200-day maize feeding, the meat gets its wonderful marble finish and an exquisite, juicy sweet nuance. The creamy aroma and the gently melting consistency are a true palate joy. Fleischkenner knows: Nebraska beef sets quality standards that make gourmet hearts beat faster worldwide. The family tree of each bark is documented in detail. It is also explained on one side (with numbers) where the selected piece sits on the beef, which is all not cheap, is clear. Nevertheless, the prices offered at first glance are fair. A 300 gram high quality steak costs approx. 30 Euro, with supplements and sauces (possibly salad), you can quickly break through the 40 Euro limit ... In addition to steaks you will also find flame cake, pizza, pasta and burger (Angus Beef and Nebraska Beef 200/400 grams of meat weight). The interior is chic, modern and noble. The room distances itself normally, not excessively tight. On the walls there are works of art, on the back of the wall an art steel print with a car in the desert. That looked really good and fits perfectly in the overall picture. The sanitary facilities are modern and open. The kitchen is completely visible, everything looks neat, clean, the hanging pieces of meat are good to see. WIr order the drinks, a regional sweat yeast from the barrel, my wife to Orangina, as a greeting from the kitchen we are served freshly baked pizza rolls with a refreshing fresh cheese bread. Both we chose the cheeseburger from the Nebraska (High Premium) beef (200 grams in the map, in fact clearly over 250 grams), I with double cheese for them without tomatoes, my wife quite normal. Two different reels are offered. Once normal (light), once dark with crispy oatmeal. I choose the sweet potatoes Pommes, my wife Steakhouse Pommes. Our neighboring table also orders a Ladycut Rumpsteak as well as a 400 gram fillet steak (approx. 38 euros). We waited and waited, well 45 minutes, until finally our burgers (9,90 single prize) came. From the dressing neat the pommes were separated in a silver screen. The burgers had too cold temperature, somewhere between cold and lukewarm. But the meat was absolute premium quality, it tasted like a neatly salty cowshed, the cheese (cheese Cheester cheese) a disappointment. Even cold, they could have saved the double disc. Zero taste. The bread and the cheese are fresh from the refrigerator, of course this is a No Go with a little more resting time at room temperature I would have given instead of 3.0 a 4.5 at dinner. My sweet potatoes Pommes (3,50) were sensational, the Steakhouse Pommes (3,00) from my wife did not taste so good. The Premium Beef Hack was fried medium, it does not approach my reference Burger at the Big Apple Diner in Ludwigshafen Oggersheim. Also the Cheeseburger in the Metropolis in Walldorf (leider) was a class (total) better. Conclusion: As a small excuse there were 2 espresso from the kitchen that went to the house. Nevertheless, time management in the kitchen is still air up."
All prices are estimates.
Mannheim, known for its grid layout and Baroque palace, offers hearty German cuisine. Try "Sauerbraten" (pot roast) and "Spätzle" (noodles) for a true local flavor.
