"I and my partner eat regularly in montaz since I moved to st. ives. Therefore, we have recommended it for a family meal that we have recently had the worst experience and will never walk back into the square. we arrived and we came. by not eating yet. it was a busy evening, but the customer service we received from the lady manager was anxious. we asked the place of stay of our meal(after she had stopped screaming at one of her workers). she sent a waiter and said mins at which point I said another waiter said half an hour ago. Now this may not seem a big problem, but due to my partner, who manages diabetics and already insulin, it had the potential to be a big one if we didn't eat soon. That's why I said if we don't eat in minutes, we have to go. at this point the dame started yelling at me, she threw her scary in wut and said I'll get her to eat. she fell into the kitchen and grabbed what our food was. she returned and threw our food on the table. the waiters were quite embarrassing and we too. we had kids at the table. the lady cried on us. “He doesn’t let me do my job,” aimed at me. “Why don’t they all go.” the supplied foods were not all correct. other tables had the same question, a group from the left near and where insulted by this dame. the restaurant was quickly empty. in fairness for the young waiters they continued to apologize for the behavior of the dame. they were very embarrassing. after eating the meal (and eating that arrived, was good why we had eaten them so long). we came to set up the bill. at this place we explained how this was not a good experience, we felt intimate, waited for almost hours to eat and the atmosphere in the restaurant was appalling. that sent the dame into another wut. she called us before the whole restaurant. to the happiness was one of their associates there. He supported all our claims (I feel for him) but she remained unified. I asked to get the cctw if she didn't do that. the restaurant offered to take our service fee from the bill. that was not acceptable. after mins of real argument. we had enough. the women were angry and angry at the point where we were afraid they would throw something on us. all the workers in the motaz were embarrassing, we were embarrassed. the co-worker did everything he could do to calm down the dame and pay our bill fair. but that was not possible. we offered to pay and that was generous when considering what had happened) she cried and accused. we have gone out. in fairness, the employee apologised very warmly and shook our hands. that do not. we like to support small, local businesses, but we will not recommend the montaz to anyone. to quote the table next to us (the left are) “We have come here for years and have never spoken so that I can’t come back here again”"

Check your bill! They add a service charge to your bill as standard, but also ask for a gratuity on the credit card payment. I did question this, but to no avail.

Used to be good, now half the time the veg is hard and the masala tasteless. Not worth bad meals for one good one so after years of eating here I won't be returning. The last one ended up in the bin. Very sad.

I brought some of my colleagues here for a team get together. I hadn't been for a while so was a bit nervous of how it would be. I needn't have worried though because the food was even better than I remembered and the staff...couldn't have been more attentive. This is a lovely family run business that deserves to do well.

Waited an hour for our food. Not asked once during the meal if all was okay or a top up for drinks. Place was absolutely packed.. I mean crammed in.. clearly a complete disregard for social spacing which is a tad alarming in these covid...times. The whole restaurant will have the virus if it was brought in by someone at any time during the evening. Food was average.. not great nor bad.. naans freshly cooked which was the highlight. Service charge automatically added which always annoys me. Poor.

Went with friends and we all sat on chairs and said omg what on earth like a trampoline base. They have no lower back support they actually bend backwards and the base must be years old absolutely no support at all feeling like your...bum is on the floor. Awful and you can’t even tuck them in, so so uncomfortable and unsupportive impossible to enjoy your time sat on them old faux leather chairs. The young waiter took someone’s starter plate so we had to get it off another table , the sparking water we ordered came flat so we had to get it replaced. At a bottle it was not worth it even when the second replacement came. The pathia I ordered was hot and by hot I mean hotter then a vindaloo. I’v...

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
