"I 'm sure we have all seen that stereotypical hipster dude who is seen at a coffee shop with his latest MacBook Pro while wearing clothes purchased from a thrift store, or who uses his latest iPhone to take and instagram (yes, that 's a verb now photos of himself with the homeless because his friends would think it was cool. Well, if that guy were a restaurant, he would look like Mughli. Why am I not surprised, then, that Mughli boasts of a clientele that includes the likes of Jared Leto? Let me explain myself. Mughli brands itself as something akin to a street food vendor at a railway station in South Asia. Well, if you ever happen to actually see a railway station in South Asia and the street food around it, you will find nothing in common between it and the ritzy Mughli, just like the guy flashing his electronics with the white Apple logo has nothing in common with the homeless. The pretension works for me, however. I quite enjoy experiencing comfort and luxury behind the façade of affectatious (yes, that also is an adjective now slumming. Mughli is one of the higher end South Asian restaurants on Manchester 's renowned Curry Mile (a misnomer for so many reasons, including the fact that it 's not a mile long, and that there are just as many if not more Middle Eastern restaurants and shisha lounges in this neighborhood as there are curry houses... parentheses are such a great tool for literary digressions, aren 't they? . The menu items and their descriptions are pretty standard, and generally do not appear to be too different from the offerings at other Indian Pakistani restaurants in the area. The execution of these dishes is where Mughli shines (now, do you see why my rating is 4 stars despite my snarky observations about the pretentiousness of this restaurant? . The masala chicken biryani, which is a must try according to the restaurant menu, is indeed an outstanding dish. This spicy chicken and rice dish is strewn with pomegranate jewels and fresh cloves of garlic, which enrich its flavor profile, and is finished in a pot sealed with putty dough to prevent the air and moisture from escaping. The biryani is served with gravy and yogurt raita. While the gravy is a totally redundant condiment, the raita does serve as an enhancement to the already flavorful biryani. This dish is so dissimilar to every version of biryani I 've ever had (and I grew up in South Asia that I almost don 't want to call it biryani. Whatever it needs to be christened, it is absolutely delicious! I don 't find any of the desserts here particularly exciting, but a cup of the desi chai (traditional tea is a great way to finish off a meal at Mughli."

Mughli is the curry house that I've been to the most and it certainly makes a good curry.

Mughli's was the first curry house I visited when I moved to Manchester and I've been going back ever since.

Fantastic! Worth the drive from City Center! The small plates were the best way to try a bunch of yummyiness! We got there kind of late in the evening but the food was still prepared fresh and the service was great!

Came to Mughli for a work dinner and the service was fantastic especially considering we had a 10 person group. The atmosphere was cosy and I was served one of the best butter chickens I've had. Would definitely recommend for a dinner on the curry mile.

I ordered the hakka chili paneer for takeout and was disappointed with both the taste and portion size of the dish. The serving was small, consisting of only 2-3 pieces of paneer, capsicum, and onions in a plastic container. The dish was also lacking in flavor. Additionally, the atmosphere in the restaurant was tense, with staff members being reprimanded and delivery riders being yelled at. However, there was a young staff member who was very friendly and helpful in assisting with orders.

Having heard a lot about the amazing Indian food in the UK but being disappointed in my previous experiences, I finally found the perfect spot at Mughli. At other places, my favorite dish, chicken tikka masala, was extremely sweet and not at all like the rich and savory dish I love. But at Mughli, the CTM was exactly how it should be - creamy, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness. The authentic representation of the dish gave me hope for the rest of the menu, and I was not disappointed. Mughli's food was blended perfectly and full of flavor, unlike other Indian restaurants I had tried. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a genuine and delicious Indian meal.

TL;DR Great food and great atmosphere. After many years in Manchester we finally followed everyone's recommendations and came here and are glad we did. We debated booking a table but the website seemed to discourage it for small groups, promising that they keep half their tables for walk ins. We came early on a Saturday evening and despite it being busy we were seated quickly. Our food choices were pretty unoriginal poppadoms and chutneys to start which were very nice. The mint yoghurt was much thicker than we've had elsewhere and better for it. For our mains I had a jalfrezi which was delicious and had lots of big pieces of chicken in. Sparky went for a lamb dish which he said melted in the...

I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant and suggest trying any other place instead. The way they conduct business appears to be highly unethical, with a complete disregard for good customer service. My negative experience had nothing to do with the £25 deposit they required, but rather with the disrespectful treatment we received. I traveled from the USA to watch a football match and decided to eat at Mughli afterwards, making a reservation in advance. However, when I realized I had booked for the wrong day, I called to ask for a change. Despite the fact that we had a party of five and would have spent a significant amount on our meal, the manager (named Yaasir, I believe) refuse...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
