"I was very impressed by this restaurant! The old building was stunning, with a beautiful fire in the bar and lovely decor in the dining room. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, with colourful velvet curtains, tartans, nice lighting, and a great photo wall. The menu was varied and exciting, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The veg was excellent, especially the carrot and swede mash, and the roast beef was delicious. The salmon risotto and belly pork were also fantastic. It was nice to have specials in addition to the main menu. The crumble was one of the best I've had, with perfectly cooked fruit and quality ice cream. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to return and try the soup and sandwich during the week, and the pizza cooked outdoors in the summer!"

"We popped in for lunch as we were camping at the nearby site. There was plenty of tables available so we sat in the corner near the handmade products. I had an apple brie panini for and my boyfriend had a bacon ..brie panini for All of the paninis come served with coleslaw, salad, a balsamic glaze and crisps. For his panini, there is the option of having a ramekin of cranberry sauce. I had some bottled peach mango water to drink and my boyfriend had a cappuccino. My dessert was a litttle bakewell slice and we were given some complementary chocolates too. Overall, I can't fault anything. The food was filling and tasty, and the young girl who served us with smiley and pleasant. We will pop in again next time we go camping."

"2 older members of my family where on holiday in the area they walked 2 miles to come for a Sunday dinner at this pub the staff where very rude and says they could not have a big table as there is only 2 of them and there was no small tables available this is disgusting when they walked 2 mile just to visit Service: 1 Location: 3"

"A charming old pub in the middle of a quaint, gorgeous village in Yorkshire between York and Whitby, The Crown was empty when we arrived in the early afternoon. They had a selection of bitters and cask ales. I had a piny of Wainwright and my wife a half shandy. The staff were very friendly. There was a fire blazing and we accessed their wifi as there was no cellular reception in the area while we enjoyed our drinks. We did not eat, but the menu looked nice although the prices were a bit steep for such an isolated location. They also have three double rooms that are ridiculously expensive, running between £200 and £220 per night in mid-February. The village is quiet and absolutely beautiful with old rock buildings and cottages as well as a creek running from the old church at the top of the hill through the small valley that surrounds Hutton-le-Hole. "We arrived and walked into the pub.. there wasn't any sort of reception area.. the lady serving showed us our room. The room smelt damp.we went out for dinner said we would be back 10ish pm, we got back at 10.08pm. It was raining. We tried to get in everywhere was locked up.. we were getting wet and cold, we honked the car horn and rang the door bell.. nothing, so we phoned the property. No one answered it went to an answer machine,we sat back in the car , we were soaked and stuck outside..no way to get in.. Eventually a man walked from the bottom field and asked if we were the residents stuck outside? Apparently his manager had rang him to go have a look, he made it clear to us that he wasn't suppose to be working till Monday but he has had to come up to let us in... he let us in and locked up and off he went. My brother realised then he had left his phone in the car so went to get it but we were locked in. The fact that we were now locked in was very concerning as to fire and safety regulations, hoe would you get out in the situation.. but anyway atleast we were indoors and vould go to bed albeit that the room smelt so strongly of damp, but we had no choice, we were out in the middle of nowhere , which we thought would be a nice place to stay, but unfortunately not.... we had 3 flights of stairs to our room..a damp room, and no access after 10pm although we had said what time we were returning..we would have eaten there if the meals had been reasonably priced. Really not the best place to stay.."
