"We booked here for an Afternoon Tea to celebrate our Anniversary It is a shame that there wasn 't any choice of afternoon teas today apart from the Easter Afternoon Tea as we had been there before and had the Gentlemans Tea menu On the plus side, the staff were friendly and welcoming here. The warm scones were good but could have been slightly larger like normal scones). The sandwiches however were very poor as the bread was dry and some of the fillings were quite sparse between the slices of bread the classic cucumber with beetroot cream cheese on tomato bread for example) had hardly any beetroot and cream cheese on it. We mentioned about the dry bread issue when paying for the Afternoon Tea but not much of a response came back or offer of any compensation. The selection of cakes looked very 'artisan ' but were very sweet. Some were quite sickly sweet. The little nest with the chocolate eggs inside was probably the best of the cakes. This Afternoon Tea was quite expensive for what it was £56 for 2 people) this included a pot of tea or a cup of coffee which they would top up on request). My rating is based on this Afternoon Tea is of poor value. The attentiveness of the staff over the teas and coffee 's and the relaxing feel of the birch room where we dined were the only plus points of the experience. So overall not what we hoped our Anniversary Afternoon Tea Celebration was going to have been."

Good food, nice surroundings. Bad service, inattentive and unconscious that customers need.

Good food and service, friendly and attentive staff. Compared to similar experiences a little on the expensive side.

We arrived early and the staff was more than willing to accommodate us. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and my mother and I had a wonderful experience. She was especially pleased with her birthday present.

The food was lovely and the staff friendly. The service was however chaotic and I had to ask for the complimentary prosecco for my mum which the staff where puzzled about even though it was advertised in my booking and confirmation. We had to ask a few times for refills of tea. The environment was nice but I wasn't a fan of the music.

Was disappointed there was not a gentleman's afternoon tea. The sandwich fillings were not good. The cakes were too big and gaudy colours. The room is not as nice as the previous one. Was really disappointed as was looking forward to coming as was fantastic last time. Sorry for the negative response but really didn't think it was good value.

The food and service at this restaurant were top-notch. We were very pleased with the variety of options included in the afternoon tea. My only suggestion would be for them to provide small cake boxes for customers who are unable to finish their treats and would like to take them home. However, the staff were accommodating and wrapped the leftovers in cellophane bags within a small paper carrier.

After visiting this restaurant three times with friends, I must say that I was disappointed this time. The new location within the hotel was not very attractive, the food did not seem fresh and appeared to be prepared in advance and reheated. The service was lacking, as the staff seemed uninformed about the menu options and couldn't provide simple information like what types of tea were available or if it was possible to have both champagne and tea. Only after asking was I able to find out. The prices were high compared to other options in Manchester, but the quality did not justify the additional cost. It's a real shame.

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
