"I love this restaurant! I have visited Verona multiple times and I never miss eating at Dogana Vecia as often as I can. Everything on the menu is fantastic and incredibly flavorful. You can simply close your eyes and point at the menu and you won 't be disappointed with what will be presented before you. This is a small family-run osteria in the old section of Verona, about 1 minute 's walk from San Fermo and adjacent to the Verona Canoe Club. There are a few seats outside and a couple on the street, so you might consider making a reservation. Most tourists haven 't discovered this, so it is very authentic and the owners speak little English, but are very friendly. Very reasonably priced and the food quality is excellent. This is a do not miss when visiting Verona."

Wow, what a relief, after a week in the city, eating at various restaurants, including Michelin rated, this was the best, casual, friendly, home comfort meal. Nice wine, simple menu, well executed. And really liked the little pastry deserts. Great value. Certainly recommend.

A cena in compagnia, locale piccolo, grazioso, ben arredato, rustico. View menu

We found this place on a road running parallel to the river. Just a doorway with a small sign menu. We decided to take a chance and we were very pleasantly surprised. We managed to order in pigeon English/Italian and had the meat risotto with a glass of local wine. The wine was a tad sharp on first taste but we soon got a taste for it. The risotto was just the right amount and very tasty. I had a portion of chocolate salami for dessert and we thoroughly enjoyed this meal, far from the crowds.

This is a popular local restaurant that serves food that is typical of the Verona area, and I think you would not find the dishes commonly on restaurant menus. We enjoyed asparagus risotto (perfect), baccala (very good) and a delicious pork dish with mushrooms. Service was friendly and as helpful as could be expected when we have no Italian and they no English. Nevertheless, it worked well and we even were able to discuss and enjoy an excellent valpolicella. If I had a criticism, it would be that the servings were very very generous, and we really struggled to do justice to them.
