"We hadnt booked but got a table several tables already served it got busy for a Monday night! We both chose the Steak special a good offer with a lovely bottle of red wine! The other had a starter of cream of vegetable soup with wheaten bread , delicious a generous helping. The steaks were served with a peppercorn sauce which was amazing , onion rings in batter , rocket salad a half tomato we chose a portion of sweet potato fries , soo good skinny fries ! My steak was a wee bit chewy but the other was fine a generous helping the wine was brilliant … could have stayed longer but we had a narrow slot . We will be back again soon on our next visit to Bangor!"

We've eaten here several times and always had great food and friendly service. The Ruby cocktail is also delicious!

Had a super Friday lunch here. The service was very friendly and the food and drink superb. Comfy seating, pleasantly warm, with early 1970s hits being played (not too loudly)

Really enjoyed my visit to Toms last night. We arrived 20 mins early on the off chance a table would be ready and they accommodated us quickly even though they were busy. The ambience was lovely, the food tasty and the service great! Live in Belfast and will definitely be back

Havent been to Toms since 2019. Was then Papa Joes. So glad we returned. First thing we all noticed was the ambience. Very cosy and we loved the new look. Food was excellent and good portions. Very well priced also. The lady who looked after us (Hilary)was very attentive. We all said we wld definitely return.

Food was good but the filthy glasses let them down. Lipstick marks on all the water glasses provided on the table. Something as easy as a clean glass shouldn’t be so hard to mess up. Restaurant was nearly empty yet our table wasn’t cleared we paid our bill while the plates sat on the table. Waitress also didn’t check on us after we got our meal. Will not rush back unfortunately View menu

I took my partner here for her birthday dinner as a result of recommendations from clients at work. Wish I had ignored them. My partner asked for her steak medium well done. It was served pink. We sent it back and when it was brought back again it appeared to be correct but after cutting through the steak it was still pink. So we decided to leave. To be fair My partner's main course was taken off the bill but the night was still ruined. We will not be returning.

Very disappointing as we arrived here for a birthday treat at 3.15pm to be told they were closed and would reopen at 4.30pm. We’ve dined here multiply times for as long as I care to remember and have never booked so didn’t book today. Very disappointed after traveling almost 25 miles in heavy rain, just for food. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait as we had other plans. When you google the business it plainly states open 12 9.30pm so this is very misleading so just want to warm others as it was a complete waste of time for us today.

"Tl;dr this chef and this team are on their way to a Michelin star, so get a reservation while you can. We visited here Saturday 29, where we enjoyed the tasting menu by current chef John Hollywood. Their tasting menu is averagely priced, comparable to Dublin’s Bastible, with 6 courses actual, and plenty of wine. Aside from the setup, nothing else is average. The staff at Boat House are second to none. The atmosphere is similar to Hof van Cleve, with chirpy, witty staff happily serving customers and following the mood of the table. Their sommelier and wine pairing is particularly special, with each bottle subverting the trend, unexpected, but without compromising on quality (see: Bastible cannot figure out wine). Their sommelier is a wine nerd who’s happy to go into as much depth as you want, but you feed off the passion between courses, which is a really great dynamic between the staff and the table this is rare, usually only achieved at top star restaurants. I’ve never found this in the island of Ireland. The food itself is the perfect mix of foraged from land and sea, each dish testing and surprising you, but with some classics mixed in (beef Barolo your reward for trusting the chef). On the whole, the menu seems designed to subvert comfort you in equal measure, and succeeds with every course. You won’t find the same level of experimentation from many of the Italian tasting menus on the circuit, but that comes with the assurances of consistent quality and a journey that’ll never let you down, where subversive wine pairings inject a level of exciting chaos without risking the food. Between the atmosphere, staff, and chemistry at the table in the kitchen, a trip to Boat House can be held in the same regard as some of the world’s top Michelin star restaurants. They’re on the way. They have the ingredients, whether you know it or not. Better start those birthday reservations now."
