"This restaurant is known as the longest-running establishment in Kent, having been established in its current form in 1972. However, its history as a Chinese restaurant dates back even earlier, as I remember visiting it in the sixties when it was called The Oyster. Despite changing ownership over the years, it has certainly accumulated a rich history. Although I am not a regular customer, I have enjoyed dining here on numerous occasions since those early days. One drawback is that the entrance is discreet and up a steep flight of stairs, making it less accessible for those with mobility issues. However, once inside, the interior is welcoming and cozy, decorated in a traditional style that has remained unchanged over the years. The background music of 50’s rock ‘n’ roll adds to the nostalgic atmosphere. The main dining room is small but comfortably furnished, with the option of additional rooms for larger groups. The menu offers a wide selection of classic dishes, and complimentary prawn crackers are provided at the start. The food was delicious, although I found the soft-shelled crab starter to be overly salty. Prices are reasonable compared to similar restaurants in the area. The service was attentive and friendly, and we had a pleasant dining experience overall. Practical information includes the lack of street parking and the restaurant being closed on Sundays. We will continue to dine here as long as we are able to climb those stairs."
