"Can't recommend this hotel highly enough! Really friendly welcome with tea and scones in front of the fire. Rooms spotless and a good size. Bed very comfy I had the best night's sleep in months! The hotel only has fourteen rooms so it felt really cosy Ate in their restaurant simply amazing. We all had a cauliflower veloute appetiser, then three courses which included: Devon crab salad, warm put lentil and almond salad, wild mushroom and spinach wheel to name a few. Menu changes daily. Breakfast also stunning full English and full veggie English, haddock, tarragon mushrooms. I could go on! Hotel ideally located for walks around the countryside; the hotel will even make you a packed lunch! An exceptional hotel; well done to the staff!"

I was invited to my friends birthday afternoon tea as a surprise guest. The food was beautiful, the hotel wonderful and the staff friendly. I would 100% recommend this hotel.

I usually stay at this hotel where dinner is included in the room rate, and the menu changes daily. The restaurant has ample seating with spacious tables. It's best to visit during off-peak hours to enjoy a relaxed meal by the cozy fireplace.

The food at this restaurant was exceptional and the service was top-notch. The staff were all incredibly friendly and made sure we had a wonderful dining experience. While it was on the pricier side, the quality of the food and service justified the cost. Overall, our experience from start to finish was fantastic. View menu

My wife and I had been bought an Afternoon Tea Birthday by our daughter and son in law. What a wonderful place in a truly beautiful, peaceful, rural location. Both our sandwiches and scones were fantastic. The the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time and I would recommend this hotel.

This was my first time at this restaurant, and it reminded me that there are still experiences that make nights out worth it! The welcoming host, Tamsin, greeted us and helped ease my nerves in a new place. The entire evening was fantastic after the starter, with high standards and our server, Charlotte, personally taking care of us without any issues. Thank you, we will definitely be back. The quality of the food speaks for itself.

We had high hopes of a delightful stay, having chosen a ‘Master grade’ room in the main house. While the staff couldn’t be more helpful, and the evening meals were as good as any food we’ve eaten, the room (Rose) was very disappointing, and badly in need of a refurb. Wallpaper was split and peeling, window paint badly flaking, (with an ample supply of dead flies), light fittings wonky, an antique, ugly trouser press .... . On the up side, the bathroom was great, and the bed comfortable. For the premium price, we expected much better. View menu

What a gem. We were so pleased we stayed here. It is in a lovely spot, ideal for walking from and visiting attractions in the area. The bedroom was very well equipped and the bed was extremely comfortable, had the best nights sleep I have had for a long time. The tea and scones were very welcome at teatime. Having a predinner drink sitting in cosy settees with a log fire. And as for the dinner it was superb and served beautifully. We travelled with a friend who is on a dairy free diet and the choice for her was the best she has ever had. And the choices at breakfast were wonderful, which we had stayed for more than one night as it was so wonderful.

This was our second visit and lived up to our expectations. This was our first venture out after lockdown and all necessary precautions were taken but unobtrusive and we felt very secure. This hotel really is a haven of tranquility. The service in all areas is attentive and from the minute you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. The greatest highlight is the quality of the food served. The menu is changed daily and there is an excellent selection to suit all. This hotel represents excellent value for money on their dinner bed and breakfast rate. I would like to thank all the staff for making our first stay after lockdown so enjoyable. This is definitely a hotel we will be returning to...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
